Zyuu has a beta journal he's putting together from his experiences in CBT3.

First entry: Closed Beta Test Journal #1 | Curse
Second entry: Closed Beta Test Journal #2 | Curse

Game looks so damn good... I just hope it's not the typical grindfest.

Whoever is writing those journals must be in third grade.

I think they are well done. The get the point across and give a point of view of someone that is playing the game.

There you have the reason ^^

For English being his second language, he writes pretty well. And yeah, the game looks good. Based on interviews with the designers, I suspect they're moving away from traditional grindfest gameplay and emulating WoW.

The game ressembles WoW in certain details, the leveling is through quests or grinding, however you like it, the leveling curve will be close to WAR's leveling curve, a classic RvR one, but the endgame differs a lot from all of those games, being more like L2's endgame, quite pvp based, with sieges, pvp before raid bosses spawn, pvp during raid bosses, pvp for grinding spots, pvp to go to the enemy's cities (mobs in the enemy cities give more xp) etc. No battlegrounds/instanced arenas, free for all without channels nor limits.

How can the leveling curve be close to WAR when that game is not done yet?

Cause WAR devs stated that it should take around 2 months to reach top level being hardcore, and Aion devs stated that it should take around 1/1,5 months in their game. I used it as a reference cause nobody questions that game's leveling curve, even though it's been hinted as a bit tougher.

Unless they specify hours, saying 2 months 'hardcore' means little.

I leveled from 1 to 70 on a pvp server in EQ2 in just 1 month. I played 'hardcore ' though, which meant 18 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A better estimate would be actual hours of gameplay.

An interesting siege video, quite massive, pity that's in YT resolution and the speed is up.

Aion: Tower of Eternity Preview - Page 1 // MMO /// Eurogamer

Stigmas stones, which drop from monsters or are handed out as quest rewards, are skills from other classes, and can be equipped by any class with very few restrictions. They might allow a Warrior to equip a Mage's spellbook and cast offensive magic (spellcasting is accompanied with a neat page-flipping animation), or a Mage to wear a Warrior's plate armour. You can collect any number of Stigma stones, but you can only equip a handful at a time; these can't be hot-swapped in combat, but can be changed by visiting a trainer and paying a small in-game fee. The most powerful skills will be rare drops, equivalent to a fine weapon or piece of armour; like other loot, some can be traded, and some will bind to the character.

Good read.
