Granted, Blizzard did pack a ton of entertainment and quests into a relatively small area in Northrend, but it does strain the vaunted "suspension of disbelief" that these games require if you're attempting any sort of immersion. At least Blizzard appears to have read forums like this one, where we all obviously hate the "Go get me ten bear asses, and only one in fifty bears has an ass" quests, since the drop rate for most quest items seems to be >50% for nearly everything in WotLK, and I've probably done >80% of all WotLK quests by now. EDIT: And I hope Aion comes out a few months after Dragon Age, since I know we all want to finish that one up first.

| I really don't see a problem with Bears not dropping "intact pristine ass" every time, as long as they *at least* drop "mangled unusable ass" those times they don't. And/or there's a way to specifically target/fight/whatever so that you don't in fact mangle said asses.

| It's sad that this conversation has degenerated into the typical bitch about MMO mechanics thread instead of useful talk about Aion. Have you seen some of the vids out? YouTube - Aion - Dwarves ~ You can I mean god damn, the character graphics are amazing, this is someone using the character creation tools to make a dwarf, looks better than most MMO's out. When is the god damn beta :/ p.s. how do I embed youtube? |

That is where the talk started about grinding vs questing. MMO mechanics is 10000% valid, I don't play a MMO just because it is pretty else I would be playing LoTR or AoC.

Threw up the vid because I thought it was pretty impressive. I'm not a huge graphics whore, but it is nice to see the characters and animation looking solid. Far be it for me to get in the way though, go back to bitching about grinding vs questing by all means. Last edited by Daezuel; 02-15-2009 at 01:50 PM..

+33 Internets | I'm pretty excited about Aion. It seems like NCsoft is one of the few companies that have a genuinely good "construction" team, meaning Art and Technical. Their games, so far, have always run great and looked phenomenal. That laugh is infectious.. Anyways.. In WoW, AOE is only available to a small percentage of the player base. For the majority of people Questing is the only viable option. We just plvled a few twinks up. From about lvl 15 All we did was run dungeons with a decked out lvl 80 Druid or Paladin and we both hit lvl 60 with a little under 2 days played with no RAF and plenty of afking in town while watching movies. Huzzuh.

+166 Internets | The 30's have always been horrible in WoW. Just terrible quest saturation and well...fuck desolace. Such an underutilized zone. As for Aion, we'll see. I mean, we've seen this before. FFxi was a well polished game being released state side but they never bothered to make it...well...applicable to western audiences. For one thing, you couldn't jump and if there's anything us round eyes like, it's being able to jump. Hopefully they're taking this time to do more then translate it. |

| Stop running back to old times | Well from the time chart that was linked previously they seem to be taking a bit of time to do so. FFXI did a very good job localizing their game. It is also very popular in Europe and even in the states. As for adding jumping not sure what that has to do w/ localizing. |
