| I can't comment on the Steam version but here is a guide on how to install Aion if you have trouble. The patch should be 438.3MB in size, 5.8gig is the full client. At least that's what I've found, 6gig patch seems a bit off. Gonna check when I'm back home. |

That is how big my patch is as well. If you are getting over 6 gigs then you are downloading the game over again for some reason. Shouldn't be necessary unless something got fubared.

| Ya so I just copied the whole god damn aion folder out of the Steam folder and into some piece of shit directory NCSoft Launcher randomly chose on my C:\ drive (whereas Steam had it installed on D:\) and now it's patching a 450mb 2.11 to 2.14 patch. I guess it really wants to be on the C drive? I literally did nothing other than purchase the game through Steam, click "Download," wait 12 hours, click "Launch game" at which point the NCSoft launcher decided to reinstall the entire game in its own place. |

| The more I read about this game, the more I can't wait to play it. If they have a proper risk vs reward system the only two things that I see that could potentially hold it back are 1) Performance issues relating to large battles 2) Population issues with a two faction system Unlike Warhammer though, they seem to be using the same exact classes on both sides so that should keep the population relatively steady on both sides. The majority of people pick classes and races based on perceived power, not aesthetics as a lot of people will have you believe. Basically, most servers should be relatively balanced. With few classes, they can achieve balance among the classes much easier and it allows for much higher customization. Using the same classes on each side also means you don't have to worry about balancing the factions, one of many large mistakes Warhammer made. Essentially, most servers should be relatively balanced in terms of population and the only problem might be performance issues. If that's fixed and working fine, the only other thing that could lead to a downfall is their system of risk vs reward but from everything I've read, it sounds pretty good although I'm not familiar with the rewards yet. Assuming the rewards fit the risks, this game has everything in place to be a success and will probably capture a nice chunk of the PVP market that's been stuck playing WoW due to the fact there was nothing else on the market worth playing. From what I've read, things I like: 1) Pve drives the PVP, as it should. Kind of like how the Zeks worked in old school EQ. 2) They've funneled a lot of the pvp areas creating chokepoints etc. 3) They've kept a lot of open world content that can be fought over. 4) Penalties for dying. Quick question, can you talk to the opposing faction?

+5 Internets | That's where Aion goes opposite from the Zeks otherwise I find the experience similar, I was busy spamming healing but I didn't even knew the name of the aggressor only the Abyss title, not even the level, it's a total shade. |

As for mippo's stuff. You can't talk to the opposite faction directly, but unless fixed in higher version, you can talk through personnal market messages(when you set up shop, the message isn't made into gibberish like /say messages). The client performance seems good even when there's a tons of people fighting, I haven't had the chance to check the lag though in those situations. It does seem like the big abyss fights during last CBT worked fine though, but they were usually only around 25vs25 which isn't a full scale war. | |
