Heh, well, if you want to play a game for a year before you decide to make up your mind, thats fine. For the rest of us sane people, I think after 8 months we have a pretty good idea what kind of game it will be.

AoC was out for a three months and had content added during that time. Do you think they still add content every three months now? Nope.
You're the one who said they were adding things for the NA release.

Anyway, in your opinion you think that content delivery will slow down exponentially after 1.5's release. That's fine, we'll see.

Just simply pointing out that judging a game's content patch cycle before it's been out for very long is pointless. I hope aion is a great game, this industry needs more competition. I've tried it out on the last beta weekend, has potential, but so did a handful of other mmos.

WoW is the only MMO that I've played that has had such a slow content cycle. So I can judge it, based on NCSoft's track record with their other games. They may release less content for "free" (in quotes because although technically the content is free in WoW, you paid for it ahead of time w/ the unfinished expansion), most MMOs have way faster expansion delivery.

Copy paste from aionsource frontpage:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Korean test realm has been updated with a new version of the 1.5 patch, it contains the following changes.

-Instance time limits have been changed. Fort-based instances now have a re-entry timer of 18 hours, Dark Poeta's has increased from six to twelve hours while Draubniru has decreased to 6 hours.
-A substantial increase in party quests for the Elten and Morheim regions.
-Minor buffs to the Gladiator and Chanter classes.
-New stats have been added:

* Cast speed
* Hate building (Agro)
* A resistance stat specifically for Crowd-Control spells, never again shall you be turned into a sheep! (We totally didn't forget to mention this earlier... no)

There has also been a hefty addition to end-game items to take full advantage of the new stats.

Seems they're nerfing the reset timers on the new instances so people don't stay in them for too long. The most interesting part though, which makes Toxxulian right, is they're adding group quests to Eltnen and Morheim. These are definitely due to NA requests for less grinding and more quests. I'm pretty sure they're very shitty basic quests, but it's free xp with a goal. There's quite a few elite areas in those zones with very few quests for them.

By your logic, Warhammer and AoC can't be judged yet.

Hehe supposedly due to everyone just sitting in instances getting AP, as every fortress dungeon gives AP, risk free, instead of out in the abyss. Or so what You hear from koreans on their test server(where 1.5 is at atm).

Quest changes are good for western markets, they have plenty of story driven quest, hell the campaign stuff is good for story/lore, everything else is just fluff and becomes the "hidden grind".

Still the same base game though, nothing at its core is being changed, adding quest does nothing to the overall game, so its still the same game.

Btw ayase posted today on Aionsource

I sure hope it's 1.2 announcement, that'd make me actually look forward to playing this weekend.

As for the AP farming in dungeons you heard from koreans, it seems to have been mostly relayed by one guy, Feii, who also happens to generally be an idiot when he posts, so I don't know. I mean sure you can farm AP in those dungeons, but the amount you get from mobs is really shitty. It's also terribly hard to judge how people play based on the test server imo, obviously if there's new content you can bet your ass people are gonna be running these dungeons non stop to check out the cool stuff(btw Dark Poeta looks pretty amazing, it's just a reskin of normal poeta, but a dungeon that's as big as the first zone, really?), and I bet it's an underpopulated server in general. I wouldn't care all that much to be honest. And hell I could care less if random joes can farm their way to abyss gear running pve instances exclusively, that's like arena's free gear pre rating reqs, and it didn't bother me one bit, it's much slower, and people in full pvp gear with no pvp experience are still total shit. We'll see how it goes.

You should wait about 3-5 years before you play any MMO. Once you've played it for a year after that waiting time to see if it's good, let us know how it is.

Patches/1.x - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

Making any sort of a comparison though would really devolve into yet another discussion about EQ and WoW and who really wants that? Let's be honest, it's not like there's an industry standard here.

Anyways...

Are you sure? I don't see in the patch notes them saying it's because of NA feedback. Could be wrong though. You'd think NA feedback would result in more solo quest area's, not group quests.

Well I don't think anybody would argue that the rate at which Blizzard release content is anything close to ideal.

The real question is, is it possible to release it faster without seeing a subsequant drop in the quality of content?

And come November, Aion will have been a year as well.

Again, for you ignorant fucks that can't seem to comprehend things.

AION IS BEING RELEASED IN NA AS A LOCALIZED PORT, THIS IS NOT A BRAND NEW GAME

Stop talking like it's something that has no retail time under the belt, because it's had close to 8 months of retail release. There has been some feedback and influence into patches from other regions, but to state that the game is getting some type of huge overhaul solely for the NA release is completely false.
