| I can do 1-10 on the asmodian side in about 2 hours or so. 11-15 is pretty fast too. 15+ starts to slow down due to lacking quests. I've heard they're upping the exp from quests in a few patches. We'll see.

| Depends on the class. I took a mage to 10 in 2 hours and 20 minutes, but my warrior took about 3 hours and 45 minutes. Scout about the same as the warrior. Haven't tried the priest yet. |

| I don't really understand the point of doing the Beta testing on the old 1.0 client, and then planning to release with the 1.5? Why wouldn't they just patch the NA client for Beta to the latest release, so we can test on that one and find any bugs that are still remaining. Any that we find right now might have already been fixed. |

| It's not. I believe China just got up to date with 1.2. I think 1.5 will go live everywhere more or less at the same time.

+42 Internets | About /played to 25, it's about 30hours, assuming you focus on leveling and don't fuck around with tradeskills and shit, and know what you're doing at least a bit. Also, that's on a sorc, so it might be slower on other classes. 1-10 is about 2hours and a half on every char I've made, can't seem to get it much lower unless you twink a scout. That doesn't take into account the quests saved after the ascension quest though, so usually 10-11 is like 20mins or so. After that it depends a lot on the class you play, some classes are mostly late bloomers so they level relatively slowly for a while, like clerics templars rangers, while others are very fast right away like sorcs SMs chanters glads. Also basically every lvl after 22 you have part of the level to grind. That can be done while questing if you kill mobs on the way to quest mobs and level gathering, but there's some to do. From 24 to 25, I had to do orange/red quests on lvl 26-27mobs, including a mission quest on 27-28 mobs(duoed it without a problem), and I still had 70% of my lvl to grind after doing basically every quest. You can avoid pvp entirely until 30 if you're willing to grind also, the 2nd zone for 20-30 has no rifts, so you can grind there until 30, at which points you will definitely have to go in a zone with rifts. Will see how it goes once the game isn't lvl capped and stuff, but quite often there would be full groups/raids cleaning the whole zone coming from a rift deep in the zone and walking their way back to the fortress, along with some camping at the gates of the fortress. That made staying on the road when a rift was opened quite dangerous, but very often I'd just see the zerg go by without noticing me if I was on the sides instead of sitting on the road. Overall I'd say it's a pretty good game, but I'm tired of their 1.0 server, I wanna see what really changed in the next versions. Also don't think I'll be playing a sorc, it's relatively nice but not mobile enough in my opinion, every pvp encounter was basically root to sleep/poly then unload huge burst and insta kill opponent, which was a bit mindless. Don't think there's much more to the class either, and you can die in 2secs if you get caught by something(or if the blink fails, which happened randomly). Good PvE class though, very little downtime considering it's like the least mana efficient class in the game, using the mana tools I had, I only needed to sit down every ~12mobs, or I could drink a pot and just keep going, and that was the only downtime I had. |

| I'm going to be picking up my ranger a bit next weekend. Chanter, like you said, was very simple and somewhat boring to play.

| Well ended up being a fun weekend, looking forward to seeing more realy wish we were testin 1.5. Aside from that I tried the Chanter out got him to 13 but couldn't stand the Mantra's constantly refreshing the icon over my head. I went back to my Cleric from the previous phase got him to 20 and pretty sure thats what I'll go with at release now especialy now that I got to see the Stigma's and how they work. Did a bit of pvp in Morheim had a few small grps of Elyos come in and try to gank solo people. Always managed to be in the right place to run in and save some tank/caster and turn the tide and beat 2 to 1 odds usualy. Realy enjoying the Clerics utility and some decent dps pretty much fully slotted out in +magic power. |

| For anyone that got it/will get it off Steam, and may cancel or decide not to play, here's what I got in reply to a refund request: "Hello, A staff member has replied to your question: Hello Soandso, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. As requested, we have processed a refund to your account. Your confirmation number is: numbergohere Your bank or credit card issuer will return the funds to your account - please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to be posted. Please note in the future that Steam purchases, per the Steam Subscriber Agreement, are not refundable - this refund was issued as a one-time customer service gesture." So they don't appear to do this, unlike every other retailer I've used for pre-orders. Nice of them to do it once, I guess. |

+32 Internets | This is pretty long, sorry for that. You can skip to the bold parts if you want to see my impressions about PvE or PvP Ok so played 1-14 last beta and 14-23 this past weekend (didn't play Saturday) and thought I would toss up my impressions here. I leveled a Glad and my friend leveled a Cleric with me. PVE The first thing I noticed was the initial pve and combat was smooth, it reminded me of wow in the way mobs react to being pulled smoothly and their pathing was good (games like Warhammer failed miserably on this). Combat flowed nicely as well, the few times I had delay's in skills or whatever was due to server lag but overall very smooth skill flow and once I got into my 20's and had full rotations and reactive skills the combat became really fun. The 1-10 area's are ok but very linear and with only 1 race per side I don't know if that will ever change. Its not a issue for me but for someone that is looking to have tons of alts it might be a gamebreaker. 10-20 was a better overall experience and I credit a lot of that to getting more skills and combat becoming more engaging because of it. In the late teens you may have to grind or do elite's with a group. We ended up not needing to grind at all as we were able to duo all the elite quests and mobs with little trouble. Quests flowed decently well up until 21 with 2 zones now to quest in, one of which isn't completed and only has a few quests. Once this zone is fully open it will alleviate the 20-25 no quest problem all together I would think. So at this point I would have been forced to do red quests if I wanted to quest. Instead I joined a group and did a open world dungeon (Teran Caverns?) with Lobster type elites for great xp and drops. The dungeon reminded me of a typical open world boss to boss hop which I enjoy. Good layout, patrol's you had to look out for but nothing a solid group couldn't handle, we were able to do all boss encounters and 3-4 mob pulls with no wipes. MT/OT/H/H/DPS/DPS http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0012.jpg http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0013.jpg http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0015.jpg http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0017.jpg That is basically where my pve experience came to an end. Overall I give leveling 1-25 a 7/10. They need to add more options for newbie zones as well as flesh out the quest or mob xp in the 10-20 areas. The xp changes in 1.5 might negate this all together, and I know they are expanding the 20-25 zones a bit. Good stuff. PVP For us if the the PvP is garbage its a deal breaker, so we were eager to get into it and we got our chance this weekend. Our first encounter was just outside our level 20 fortress (the initial lvl 20 quest hub). My friend and I were questing down in a icy area when I happened to pan my camera around and saw 2 red names with the "Rank 8" text in their title's. Before you know it my Cleric was slept and I was rooted, which I countered with a break. They (sin/sorc) decided to burst down the Cleric first and got him pretty low in a couple of seconds, but he used his 2k DP skill and by that time I had dropped the sorc, the sin who was rooted by the Cleric followed after. Great first encounter. We were pretty fired up considering we weren't really expecting much pvp until 25 and the Abyss. We spent a lot of time that day defending from Rift attacks, had some really epic fights in our pve zone. Playing a Glad with a Cleric backing me I felt like I was leading the push across the bridge in AV again. http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0010.jpg http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0008.jpg http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/c...a/Aion0011.jpg Overall a great PvP experience 9/10 small lag spikes aside. The open larger scale combat felt like battlegrounds/world pvp, and the smaller fights as smooth as arena's. Along with their normal functions good players are able to provide counters and interrupts to burst and CC. This is not just a hack away and win ala Warhammer. Is that guy over there casting a heal? Yep he is cause I can see his cast bar and spell name >>>interrupt<<< That is the kind of thing that keeps me engaged in pvp. Also the system of loosing points/rank when you die is great. Want to get that next peice of pvp gear? Don't be a scrub. Anyway loved the pvp ![]() So in closing the game has grabbed me, enough so that I am taking a lot of my friends and our guild to it. It seems like it is going to provide a polished pvp and pve experience. Weather or not the content is going to drive the game to success remains to be seen. |
