I'm loving my mage right now. The "let me see your future" cut scene, where I had black wings, I was being called lord Salshun and was flying around that hellish abyss was the fucking shit x 100.

So went and picked up a preorder for me and one for the GF at Eb today. Wanted to get in on the beta event this weekend, but the downloader is slow as fuck. 50k/sec to download 5.5g, will probably mean I miss this weekend.

Anyway, are there a few servers atm or only one? Where is everyone playing?

Shit I forget, and I don't want to log out, something that starts with a Z.

It was weird getting the pre-order and opening the case expecting a disc, and it just had the card in it. Hope you get in soon, so far I'm VERY impressed.

There are currently 4 servers. Siel and Isaphreal (sp?) are the 2 older ones.

Download it from Fileplanet, its free and I got 1.1mbs down.

I already downloaded the initial install file from the site, and need to download the game. Is that what this is? I'm in a 15 minute queue to download it, so either way I'll find out, just want to be sure.

*edit* disregard, its the full file. I wasn't sure as the fileplanet site said 1.9gb, but the download is 6.1. Getting much better speeds thanks.

It's hard. A friend of mine asked me how I can describe the game, and I told him I'd call him back. After thinking for 2 hours, I told him "the balance of EVERYTHING seems perfect. All forms of progression (xp, trade skills, etc.) just seems flawless. I never felt screwed over or overly rewarded with any part of my progression. It's a refreshing change of pace. So far, I'm loving this game.

*IF* the gather rate is the same as chinese beta was, then its not quite flawless, on the gathering side of things.

You will have to grind out a good chunk of gathering points in/by the late 20s.

And your first quest that asks for 2nd tier aether gathered bits WILL make you rage or pay horrendious prices on the AH.

The transition between soloing everything and BAM! Your questlog is filled with nothing but group quests is a bit Jarring.

For all that, the early game is very smooth and has potential.

This is the first mmo my GF has been as excited as I am about. Just went and threw a new video card into her machine to enhance the 'pretty' factor for her. So if this is half the hype, and none of the 'vanguardish' crap I experienced last time something looked good, I'll be sold.

Gather rate seems the same, had to grind it a few times to catch up and get to the next "tier". Aether one is pure grind since they only spawn in certain areas, until Abyss. The good part however is since you gain xp for it, it doesn't feel all that bad grinding it, or just picking stuff up between fights. It is slow as shit however, until you outlvl it a lot, then it's pretty decent since you get it done in 2ticks each.

And yeah also ran out of quests at 20, besides the repeatable shit, but decently close to 21 so just gonna grind it.

how'd you run out of quests at 20? Their's two zones that start at level 20 aren't there..

Hmm there's only Morgheim, or Eltnen for Elyos(I think), maybe I missed something? Not a big issue though, I've been doing the repeatable for coins, and I get tons of Titanium I sell for like 25k for 15(for the quest) so it's pretty nice here.

Edit: There's another zone actually, with 3 quests as far as I can see, and lots of greys at lvl 21, so yeah probably would have had to grind anyway, but lots of good mobs to grind on in the area so not complaining.
