And I'm not sure how strong they are in the end game but they're the best gankers in the Abyss early on with silence+stuns+knockbacks+slows+sleep arrows. | |

Anyway, grinded a 75% of my lvl from 14 to 15, and questing got much better, not having to kill orange mobs and stuff. There's quite a few mob types that are "scouts" that are very interesting to grind on because they have low hp(but usually high dmg/poison abilities). Mages, not so much, their dmg goes through armor and is ranged. | |

+5 Internets | Really funny. X) He skipped: 1) That "talents" on Aion sorta are the Stigma Stones right? Stigma Stone - Enhancement Items - Aion I mean they enchant your skills, give a few, seems just like. 2) The didn't mentioned PVP. ![]() |

The 1-10 experience as an archetype isn't hard at all. After level 10 you'll start getting your abilities and the entire game changes as your class defines itself. And most of the mobs you're fighting are toned down and spread apart. | |

| It's a mediocre rail MMO. Given that we're almost 5 years past the launch of WoW here in the States, this game just isnt breaking any new ground really. Like when you first logged into WoW, you knew you we're done with EQ...still waiting for that same jump in immersion that makes you realize the same about WoW. |

+5 Internets | Yup will stick to it as well, it's pretty decent, but gotta wait for the Abyss and a couple instances to lay the hammer on it, a bunch of folks are "reviewing" this 1.0 up to level 20 beta as the final game - it's silly. At EQ beta 3 I think the rain killed everyone on butcherblock (heh that's away back.. anyone from that time remember that? Not sure if it was a joke of some sort but I remember everyone running away from the zone because the weather closed jumping away in panic, to think about it, was probably someone doing a prank - I did fell for it ) on war beta 3 most npcs did not fight back (that was so close from launch was scary). On Vanguard first beta I couldn't kill the first snake mob as a warrior ...Aion in general is not bad at all.Their suggestions forum got a thousand threads and more coming fast, bugs not that many but I found a few typos (normal I guess), but with that many changes being requested, it feels like 22 Sept is actually too early to launch, unless they pretty much ignore the Western "testers" input. Kinda sux that the in-game tool for reporting bugs is not working yet, weird to be on a beta that we gotta alt+tab to the forum start a thread to report a freaking typo. ![]() Last edited by NativityInBlack; 07-04-2009 at 10:04 PM.. |

+39 Internets | It's not a beta in the real sense of the term, you're just testing quest text basically, I have yet to find anything that changed from the original version of the game. Also 1-20 isn't changed that much in 1.2 or 1.5, some classes changes, a bit of UI stuff, but not that much really, so if people dislike the game already, then there's little chances they'll like it at release. I think there's quite a few people who like it though, and some others that still are keeping their judgement for the Abyss phase. Still could be argued that the meat of the game takes too long to get to, no dungeon and no pvp until 25. But the word beta has little meaning here, WYSIWYG pretty much. |

--- Judging Aion by 1-20 is fail. Its a EQ/WoW-Clone with flying. Past 20 the PvP starts which changes the whole game (imo). I mean they even call it a PvPvE game, so its clear that judging low level PvE is wrong. Its like saying AoC is like a thousand times better than WoW, just compare level 1-13 in both games! --- And Aion is not "in beta" anymore. Its live in several asian countries. You cannot call the translation were playing a "beta". Thats just off. | |

+39 Internets | So grouped tonight for the first time, wanted to do the mission quests in the elite stuff and all. A few things I noted. First the xp was pretty good. It was a full 6man group, level was 17(me) to 20 on mobs being 17-19. We had 2 gladiators tanking(well one was tanking and the other was jacking off most likely), 2 chanters healing(me mostly though, other guy figured he should start healing after the 2nd wipe, and was still pretty slow with them, low multitask ability), 1SM doing his thing(which wasn't much as far as I could tell) and 1 assassin ripping mobs apart(pulled aggro a few times, said he critted for 1000-1200). Went well when we were actually fighting shit, not so well when we were trying to skip stationary mobs only to get owned by patrols then getting adds. Most of the wipes were due to the other chanter being slow as shit on heals, so I'd usually die from healing then he'd die too. That and terrible pulls, but yeah, pugs 4TW. If that first area is an indication, pve with pug is gonna be terrible, tons of patrols, they move extremely slow but they cross paths and stuff. One thing I really liked is basically there was no downtime. Might be because I was a chanter, but we could totally fuck up a pull, and I'd be like chain healing for 2mins or whatever, and at the end I'd still have enough mana to keep going. Would just need a tick or 2 of sitting between pulls to regen back to full over time, or I could drink pots if I wasn't a cheap ass. Even though this game has basically no ooc regen, I feel like it has heal mana cost well done so you don't actually have to "drink up" between each pull. Considering our tank was 2h tanking, and I was DPSing, I feel like healing is rather well done. Barring those fucking stupid bugs where my mouse kept disapearing, that's so gay. Got a lot of greens, and the quests were MOSTLY well done. One of them had us kill Mumus for crates and the crates were bop items that only one person could pick up, on some of the kills. Only 3 each though, and mumus weren't real elites so it wasn't all that bad. The hunter feather quest though was 10drops, but everyone could loot. A named dropped a white item only, that was anticlimatic, I blame our tank for fucking the loot tables by pulling the whole fucking place after HE said "eh let's wait for the patrol". Overall, I'd say it was pretty nice. Nothing fancy, but it's functional. You can also switch channels if yours is crowded so you don't have to fight for spawns and shit like that, so you can have multiple groups doing the same content without directly "instancing" it. Chanters are also pretty nice, at least at these levels, had no problem with the healing, and the buffs seem very interesting for everyone. If anything they're a good 2nd healer class, since DPS is also decent. Now on an unrelated question, trying to figure if I'm the one lagging, or if the beta servers are lagging for anyone else. Like, a bit of rubberbanding sometimes, or 2-4secs freezes where you can still move but no action works, then it fast forward to catch up. Usual lag, not talking of anything pc related. Since I seem fine during the day and lagging during the night, I suspect it's more of an issue on their end, but well. |
