Didn't read most of the posts but you'd have to try to suck as a 5 man assuming you and your 4 friends aren't mouthbreathing retards. If you're going to want to arena, I'd say building the group around that and/or quick leveling would be far more important. You should be able to faceroll to 1700ish if the 5 of you can manage any form of coordination but something like pri/pal/war/mag/shm should make you fine for arena. If you are seriously concerned with 5 man efficacy (and don't really know why you would be .. I've finished pugs with people who I honestly think would hurt themselves walking down a sidewalk), optimal would probably be something along the lines of: prot pally mage warlock (affliction while you're still getting your gear, destro when you're more purple than blue) ele sham holy priest The caster dps synergy would be rather insane and the priest could very feasibly be shadow for misery and just have either the priest or shaman "healing" since it won't take much with the speed which shit will be dying. If the paladin's gear get's good enough you will actually be able to fully ae groups and just say fuck it to any thoughts of aggro control. If you prefer the melee approach: feral tank rogue ret paladin enhance shaman holy priest CC would be fairly light so your first time through shadow labs and mgt would be rough but single target damage would be fucking unreal. Bosses will basically just fall over.

Ok, so today my girlfriend decides she wants to make her trial account a real account and in doing so caused a chain reaction of me resubbing and calling my brother and two others to resub as well. We are all starting from scratch going horde on Silvermoon. So far I know my gf is going holy pally, my bro is going prot pally, another is a mage, and another is a warlock. I'm currently back and forth between either a hunter or druid(feral) or maybe even a rogue again(got one to 70 on alliance but havent played in over 6 months). Out of those 3 which would compliment the other 4 the best, and also which one would have the easiest time finding groups/raids if the other 4 bailed/fell behind me? I've always liked the idea of hunters, but the "huntard" tag that is always associated with them makes me worried about getting in to groups/raids at 70 and has kept me from leveling one up so far.

I leveled my protadin with a setup similar to that. (protadin, holy priest, mage, rogue and feral). While the feral wasn't really bringing any sort of synergy to the group, the fact to have a class that versatile can be very interesting (hell, there's no synergy to talk about in that group either, but you can't say it isnt well rounded). He was basicly a second rogue, who could off tank shit in a pinch or backup heal whenever needed, no synergy per see, but it's like to have your very own ninja dual weilding swiss army knifes. Then once we got to 70, he respeced Resto and facerolled his way to glory with S3 gear.

Any group with a prot pally and 4 casters is going to be great for 5men, just make sure you have a shaman in there, it's just an awesome class, be it resto for healing or elemental for dps. I wouldn't go in with a melee oriented group just because it's a lot more annoying for the healer with all the pbae shit mobs toss at you. Something like prot pally, priest, shaman, mage, lock is going to be awesome. Respec the pally to holy and you're set for arena as well. Hunters are fine too, if you can play them properly they are indeed an amazing class.

If you can guarantee all 5 of your group will be on together and will stay the course to 70 the by all means go shadow priest and try this "synergy" thing. If any of them are unreliable go Druid so you can cover them.

+12 Internets | I'd recommend the all-caster route. Melee teams may be the new hotness in the arena but the lack of CC will really hurt in 5 mans. Especially if you go sniffing around MT. I'd go with this setup myself: Prot Pally Resto Shammy Mage Warlock Shadow Priest |
