+17 Internets | Well back before the Spiritual Attunement change for paladins a few guildies and I had a group that we found virtually immortal in 5-mans. Affliction/Destruction warlock, Holy paladin, Shadow preist, Myself (Prot paladin), and The biggest DPS boost was another destruction warlock. |

I really don't see your point. Just because classes have heal buttons available doesn't invalidate the other stuff that they can do nor does it make them somehow less useful at other things. It makes them more versatile, that is a good thing.

Feral, Boomkin, Prot-Paladins, Enh Shaman, Ele Shaman.. and even post 2.3 has seen a rise in Ret Paladins. The game has changed in 5-mans and the raid game to the point where these roles aren't really an exception anymore, they are a standard. Saying these hybrid roles arent valuable outside of healing is just not even debatable anymore. If anything, the debate lies in "where" not "if". (and even that has been hashed out a million times by now). Not trying to be shitty, but this is fairly redundant and most folk are genuinely tired of explaining hybrid viability which has changed greatly since the expansion launched. I don't know what drives a resurgance of many pre-bc players back to the game - maybe its renewed talk of wotlk. Who knows.

| Figure out what you really want to spend most of your time at 70 doing - 5 mans, Karazhan/ZA, or arena. If its arena figure out how competitive you guys are. There are some damn good teams out there. Unless all 5 of you are good at PVP you will get stuck at a ranking at some point, and if you go weeks where you win 5 games and lose 30 probably a few of you are going to get pissed off and look for someone else to arena with. Racials, professions, specs, classes all are really important the more competitive you want to be in arena. You will also need to run Karazhan/heroics to get badges to get items that cannot be gotten via PVP. It takes MONTHS to gear up via arena as well, since you'll have to do battlegrounds to collect the welfare (s2 soon) gear, then months to get the s3/s4 gear. Realistically anyone starting a new character now will have a hard time advancing beyond 1900 ratings unless you join a team of people in full s3. Since its unlikely all 5 of you will be at equal skill levels its pretty important to figure out how competitive in arenas you want to be, if you have a buddy who goes postal when you lose a pickup basketball game WoW may not be a good game for your group. |

We all enjoy PvP and since 5-man composition seemed to be "anything goes", I figured focusing on least forgiving aspect, arena, would help focus the thread a bit more.

| Nothing stoping you to have mutiple teams. 5v5 for everyone, so the less pvp inclined can get some points, and the more competitive folks can mess around in the 2v2 or 3v3. Most important factor is to have everyone playing a class/spec they like. Someone who like their class/spec has better odds to be online often and willing to do stuff. |
