[PotBS] Server Consolidation

Well, the biggest issue that a lot of people had with the game (those that gave it a chance) was that there were just too few people to have good romping PvP with. So, they're taking the servers down from 12 to 4 or something crazy like that. I guess that means either A) Wow, the game is dying, or B) They actually listened to the player-base.

no, was like that from the beginning. Every MMORPG has that issue out there, even WoW. some servers simply are dead.

Yeah, but 60% of their servers at once?

Just means they set their sights a little too high imo. Fixing the problem this early means good things imo, although I've heard they are pretty good at ignoring the other complaints of their consumer base.

I wish more companies would do this rather than just live with it and risk the stigma that the game is "dying". Full vibrant servers are the best part of MMO's.

That requires extensive chunking as in eve. Can you imagine all US wow players on one server ?

I am pretty sure 60% of the EU WOW servers are not worth playing on for a hardcore player.

although im sure you are kidding, that is not the point. I'm pretty sure they could merge at least 20% or more of the NA servers and not have any queue problems on the servers left. The number is just higher for the EU.

I remember well the "all is fine, subscriptions are rising, sales are going well" comments by the Lead, Producer or whatever on the forums when people asked to merge the servers right after the start in week one or two.

I realy couldn't believe the stupidity of that reasoning, the merges were needed, anyone playing on all but the most populated server could see that, esp. when playing France or Spain. All Flying Labs would concede is that maybe, somewhen down the road, they might look into it.

I know of 35+ people alone that might (baring other issues that might have come up) still be playing if the population issue would have been taken serious from the start on and if Flying Labs had acted right away as was neccessary, not months too late.

Ah well, I simply can't understand how you can be so ignorant to obvious issues like low pop servers. There should have been an action plan for that right from the start. It's not like that issue never came up before in other MMOs.

Especially with a world like PotBS. I can't imagine when a high pop would hurt. The only thing you would be jockeying for is PvE encounters. Resources/PvP would only benefit from high pop.

Awesome? It'd be such a clusterfuck it'd be worth playing just for the drama.
