| Always thought that raid caps were silly. Not having caps allows the players to "beat encounters" with subnormal numbers for reputation; one of the cooler aspects of a social MMO, imo. Such low caps lessen that desire alot, mostly because it means the encounters are tuned around the raid size that first kills them. Having a guild on your server who zergs the newest boss, and then a week later having killed it with only half the number of players, feels like a huge accomplishment. While it isn't directly related to raid caps, it is something that seems to fall out of it because of the way players interact with the system. |

Personally, I hope they scrap this ridiculous idea of having Deathknights as tanks. Even if there are new mechanics introduced to allow them to tank with a 2H as has been the rumor, we simply don't need another tank class in the game, period. Quote:

| I cannot wait to spend money and time each month to watch other people have fun raiding. YOU ARE INSANE.

On the flip side, though, it will be the only 'tank' class designed from the ground up with WoW's current direction and goals in mind, most of which have radically changed from the days of beta or even early release. They'll be able to look at their past mistakes and apply the lessons learned to the Death Knight. I suspect we won't find any useless abilities like Rend on the Death Knight, or have to deal with ridiculous buffing systems ala Paladin horse shit. If the release of BC is any indication of what's going to happen with the Warrior class in the release of WotLK, I'm most likely going to end up shelving mine in favor of the Death Knight -- and this is without having heard one single detail about the Death Knights aside from that they will be a tanking class. I simply cannot deal with the absolute hamfisted bullshit that we've been shovelled with every major release another time, and then know that it will be a solid 3-4 patches before they get fixed on a patch cycle most likely set to the pace of my grandma's orgasms. You realize it took them the greater part of a year to acknowledge that Devastate as a seperate ability sucked complete donkey balls, and that, oh my gosh, we DO need another stat to stack for threat! Anyway, while part of me weeps at the thought of another tank class entering the fray, another part of me welcomes the idea of one introduced AFTER all the polish has been applied and secretly hopes that maybe other tank classes will be phased out of that role in favor of other areas.

I do agree though this will kill of Warriors totally though if Death Knights are good tanks.

+32 Internets | Get them right? No. But have a reasonable understanding of where they want them to be in the current paradigm, yes, most definitely. EDIT: I should also clarify that I don't think adding in another tank will 'kill' the Warrior tank. I just hope they do it well enough that they at least consider the option of moving the Warrior into a berserker type roll. A hope, rather than a prediction.

+1 Internets | I also miss the romantic, good ol' days of 40 man caps where everyone was brought to raids and we never had to sit people out. My favorite encounter was most definitely the Four Horsemen, where we never had to sit anyone out for the 7 to 8 warriors it took to accomplish the task of killing them. I don't recall ever having to min-max for 40 man fights like Loatheb or Gothik either. Man, those days were great. Back in my day, if we didn't have 40 people on at night, we simply did these encounters with fewer people, because they were not encounters that required efficiency in raid composition.
