Poxnora

PoxNora - Welcome to PoxNora

Jesus titty fucking christ is this game addicting as fuck. I would fellate this game and stick my dick in it if I could. Its like heroes of the might and magic and magic the gathering had sweet consentual missionary sex and this beautiful bouncing baby popped out 9 months later.

Seriously though, if you're a fan of either turn based strategy games or CCGs this game is nuts. I've been playing it for the past few days and im hooked. You obtain units from buying a starter deck or booster packs much like any CCG and either form your own army or use the starter. In each battle, win or lose, your units accrue experience points you can use to individually increase their stats or give them new abilities.

The game is resource based; so you dont just throw all your units out on the field in the beginning and go. You start with your HQ and a meager amount of "nora" which is basically mana. From there you have to summon units (which obviously cost mana) and use those units to capture nodes which replenish more mana each turn. Theres also a wide variety of spells, artifacts and equipment at your disposal.

If you don't feel like spending any money; or want to try it out before you do its free to create an account and dick around with any of the starter decks but your guys wont get any EXP and you can't customize the units.

Do. Not. Buy.

I did and played active for months. Problem is that you buy "virtual trading cards" and Octopi is greedy as fuck. Some Limited Edition runes sold for 400+ $ because they were *gasp* Limited Edition between players. Then they just sold a huge amount of them starting at 50 $ going up to 150 or so the more people bought it and similiar shit.
I had to sell because they keep destroying the worth of your runes.

Also the balance is pretty much fucked up, too, many factions are only playable because of few overpowered runes that carry the rest of the crappy stuff you have to use.

Beside that its fun as hell.

160 Dollar and got only few exotics (low % chances are lovely). I took me a long time trading all my stuff and in the end sold it for 210 Dollar. Was prolly worth 300+ dollar, but more people noticed that runes are losing value. I felt lucky to get rid of it.

But "trading" is missleading. Its scamming. You put up lots of trades and hopes that a newbie who just bought his first packs and doesnt know the worth of all the runes gives you something you pretend to look for (and obviously is worth more than you offer).

Edit: You can get a playable deck going for 50 Dollar IF you are lucky AND picked the right faction. Some factions run with only 1-2 exotics on top ranks, other factions start with like 5+ to become playable. I never felt that playing the same small collection of runes was alot of fun and that it made sense, as the constant bad balancing patches required you to replace runes. So for example I got every underdepth faction rune at least twice => I could play full faction underdepths no matter what buffs/nerfs they patch in.

I played this for a bit and had fun with it. I didn't play against other people I didn't know very much, always played with my friends.

There are anti-newb builds where someone will just rape you in literally 1 or two rounds with their stacked decks. So much for allowing custom rules!

I'd love to know the regulations, if any, on charging cash for random packs. If you were guaranteed a certain # of cards per pack, fine, but when they have the ultra-rares that take the place of lesser rares, and the value is obvious... well... fool and money.

The game itself is fine but you can really see how painfully futile it is to keep up without dropping enough $$$ to play it.

The distinction Inconsiderable made about trading and scamming is nothing special to Pox Nora, it's the nature of any collectable competitive game...

Most hobbies are expensive and online is the easiest way to find opponents. If you think 100 bucks is moronic you don't want to know what people spend on Magic the Gathering Online.

I used to play this, got quite good. Was ranked in the top 50, etc. Lost interest due to balance problems (early on during shattered peaks when people started using forbidden fruit + mogas, etc) and the lack of variety in viable builds for top level play.

Yeah I used to play and really enjoyed it but basically got bored of the leveling mechanics. Most runes need 200CP to be worth playing so youve not only got the collection aspect but the RPG grind as well.
If I'm paying for the fucking Runes I want them playable from minute one and not have to cane my rating playing scrub matches with shitty runes for a few days.

Must get around to selling my account though. . .

Same thing as spending money on plat, gold, or even your monthly fee to play WoW. Money gets turned into entertainment, does it really matter how it's achieved? Say I spent that 100 dollars at a theme park. Wooo, I have some memories now. Same thing.

Yep, you're a moron.

- buying cards to win
- most terrible game name ever, except perhaps Alganon

Interest meter: ||-----------------|

I guess you can't blame them for making a game catering to people willing to pay 100s of dollars for virtual cards.

Paying 100s of dollars for something intangible is exactly the same in every instance because one day you're going to die and then where will you be with your interest meters and "wise investing."

It is perfectly viable to create an online chess game and charge $20 to purchase a queen, I mean the starter deck is 15 pawns and a king. King needs his poontang.

And if you're not a fucking douchebag you'll pay for 15 queens... what value do you put on happiness anyway? It's exactly like interacting with thousands upon thousands of people in a highly refined virtual space.

Fuck memories that involve other people or being selective with what assholes' yachts you pay for.

This is Pox Nora.

Loser.
