I'm confused. Are they saying that if you start at over 10% when cheat triggers, youll drop to 10% while having the damage absorbed and then whatever damage is incoming once you hit the 10% threshold will be reduced by the % and still be able to kill you?

And conversely, if it triggers when you're under 10% itll work the old way except the dmg reduced will be dependent on res?

If you're over 10%, you drop to 10% instead of dying. For the next 3s, any damage you take is reduced by a factor of your resilience, maxing at 90% (around ~440 resil).

If you're under 10%, all damage is absorbed, and you get the same 3s rule as if you were over 10%.

Means: Before if you used an ability that would kill the rogue, it'd all be absorbed. So they could be at 4k life, you hit for 5k, it's all absorbed, no matter what. Now, it'll do 5k-(10% of rogues life) and won't kill them. No matter what. If they are under 10% life, it'll be 100% absorbed.

After that hit. Any subsequent hits done will use the absorption mechanic of resilience x4 deal.

It's like the reverse of the old EQ PvP bodge they patched in to stop HT/manaburn deathsqauds, or something.

Since I've been almost exclusively in healer mode past 2 months or so with pvp, cheat death was nothing but a minor annoyance (and I personally will never be sub on my rogue) so the cheat death nerf hardly affects me .. but I look forward to drinking all the tears on the rogue forums tomorrow. Epic change that will certainly help make battlegrounds a bit more bearable.

I physically lol'ed when I read it for the first time earlier tonight. I do believe this is the first ability that doesn't just scale with gear but REQUIRE it.

Yeah that's a very strange move. Granted, Cheat Death was pretty much a PVP only talent. Basing any ability entirely off a completely optional and completely PVP centric stat like resil is really odd though. Why not make Soul Link or Pain Suppression based on resil as well?

The problem with shs rogues isn't even cheat death, it's all the % based talents that make them scale stupidly well: 15%agi, 10% ap and 120% weapon damage. If someone stacks pve gear they're going to die 3seconds faster anyway and be more likely to take a burst without it being planned during cc. Doing a quick armory search shows that most top rogues only use a couple of pieces of pve gear, which is no different to most classes and specs. I think the best way to nerf shs without it being stupid would be to make hemo 100% weapon damage, it would reduce some of their % based scaling without completely putting people off the spec.

You mean like back when everyone was HARP? Or back at 60 when there was no cheat death?

Fucking face it, rogues are way over the top right now. You walk up to any class with zero resilience and you fucking obliterate them....except for rogues, who you can barely hit to begin with, and who get 3 full seconds to get a heal every time they drop to 10%.

Now they'll be just like everyone else..everyone else who had to live thru getting fucking 3 shot gearing up.
