I'm sure glad I don't play arena anymore, otherwise I might be pissed. I found the beginning of it fun, like season 1 when I had a good team (1900+ 5v5), but past that, it started heading downhill from there. I don't know, guess it just gets stale after a while.

It's just the same shit week on end, in either the same arenas, or the same BGs that I've been playing in since '05, and an increased emphasis on CC. It seemed like in most evenly matched team games, all it really came down to who had the most CC effects and could avoid DR the best. Don't get me started on the barrage of MS effects and random bullshit like "Chance to stun your target for 2/3/4 sec on hit LOLZ" and all of it being on a separate DR, thereby destroying the point of DR in the first place.

I miss the random world PvP events the most. Instanced PvP killed that off in a hurry though.

You guys are exaggerating seriously. When S4 goes live you can:

- get entire S2 suit from BG honor
- get all S3 except shoulders/weapon by losing 10 games a week in arena
- get S4 Gloves, Belt, OH Weapon, Neck, Trinket by BG honor and/or losing 10 games a week

If you think "90% of casuals are going to quit" because they already have the above gear you are deluded.

Yeah, someone who hit 70 today can get that.

Someone who's been 70 since last summer (Like, oh, I dunno, anyone with half a brain) is already wearing S2/S3, and just needs Gloves + OH.

So can we apply the same logic to all the hardcore who quit once they aquire all the gear they can possibly get after 3 weeks?

Edit: Well no I guess they sell points for the rest of the season. That's really the problem, not the rating requirements.

Rating requirements encourage PR selling. PR selling encourages bottom feeding. Bottom feeding encourages point buying.

Follow the incentives, and you'll find your problems.

Round and round we go and 6 pages later we come to an agreement

Make PR permanent. Match teams on average PR. Award points on PR. Done, system works.

I agree. One thing I would do is make the PR requirement for items go down by 1 every time you win a game. Would make some items more attainable to shitty combinations, eventually.

Would help mirror the class stacking prevalent in raiding. If you bring 8 resto shaman you'll beat Eredar Twins before more other guilds. Likewise, if you're druid/warlock you'll get 1800 rated easier. However, your less-then-stellar shaman/hunter team might not ever be able to reach 1800 but the ceiling will eventually come down to compensate.

Or something.

I would even consider making it so you can't lose PR, just that it goes up slower.

I'd be fine with that but I'd like a minimum point award per week so those people who totally suck and are not able to remake a team once a week to reset themselves to 1500 (and then lose down to 1400) can at least keep a slow pace.

I can't believe the amount of crying over this bullshit. This is how the arena system should of worked from the very beginning. Forget about S4 gear for a second S2-S3 quality gear should NEVER of been so easy to obtain. This is exactly what is wrong with WoW... and has always been wrong with it. Far too many people think that just because they pay the monthly fee they should be able to get whatever they want without earning a god damn thing. I cant believe some of you can keep a straight face when bitching that you can no longer LOSE 10 games a week to get your epics.

It is a fucking disgrace to the entire genre. Only the best of the best should be allowed to wear S4 gear, yes that means 90% of the population wont be able to but seriously fuck them. 90% of the population won't ever get Illidan loot either and that is just too damn bad. This genre is about accomplishments and losing your way to the top (even if slower) should NEVER be allowed to happen. If you find that unacceptable then let the door and bus hit you on the way out.

God forbid we the players should have to work for anything. We should just put all of Illidans loot table on a vender somewhere too so everyone can have access to it. Screw raiding BT I want to roll a new rogue and go grab the warglaives soon as I ding 70. When I make my Death Knight I expect him to come with Frostmourne already as well.

Honestly just how easy do you want them to make this game before you shut the fuck up? WoW is already more like playing barbie dress up then a MMO. Everyone gets great gear and no one has to work for it. The game is so watered down to please people like Makata it is sickening.

Yep, and it's probably ruined the genre forever.

People seem to forget that the reason people bother playing MMOs hardcore usually rather than just sticking to single player games is so they can flaunt their superior gear.

Deny it all you want, say it's for "all your wonderful online friends" but bottom line is you wanna stand out as better. If anyone can fail their way to being the same why bother.

Sorry, but you're wrong. While a lot of people may play online games for bragging rights, just as many of us play because playing against an AI is repetitive and boring compared to facing off against a real human opponent in a large scale environment. However, if said environment is unbalanced and skill takes a back seat to a random number generator, then people are going to start looking for something better, whether it's Warhammer, Aion, AoC or whatever else hits the market soon. (until they start having problems and everyone goes back to TF2 instead )

That’s great. To bad Blizzard has created the system where everyone gets rewards so now they expect it. You cannot blame anyone but the designers for that. Also you clueless fucktard the way to arena is designed if you are not already in the top you have to word twice as hard to get there or simply purchase points. Which pisses off the legitimate playerbase.

Free items? You really think the teams getting there gear about 26 weeks as was pointed out are the problem? Do the top of the PvP bracket deserve gear or rewards? Sure, I would say a special title and dragon mount and the ability to get gear weeks, no months ahead and anyone else is enough of a benefit.

Did you happen to forget this is a “E-sport” personally I think the idea is a joke but to have competition and want to pretend this is a world of skill then people need to start off on the same level. Even though the Arena has always been a joke at least even the non-cookie cutter teams, and casuals could at least get on a level playing field after months of losing. Now they just get months of losing with the ability to remain behind.

I feel sorry for anyone who is still lapping this shit up like it’s the 2nd coming. Blizzard had a wonderful game at Vanilla. Now they have a joke of an MMO they can run on cruise control sit back and collect the $$. As I said before Blizzard is truly the new SOE.
