Rampage. I actually started a brand new team 2 weeks ago with a buddy, Rogue/Lock wearing mostly quest blues/greens and a few honor pieces. We went 2-8 the first week, 12-6 last week. Neither of us has more than 8k HPs or 150 resil.

Maybe Rampage is an anomaly but most people we ran into between 1400 & 1600 were in some form of S1. Saw a few S2 shoulders, and ran into one reroll team with full s3.

That is not the case in my experience. I see much more S1 than S3. Obviously this is going to vary by server/bg.

Yes, so do I. But those people in full S1 aren't even on arena teams. The vast majority of people I see in PvP gear running around are in full head to toe honor gear, and are on NO arena team. They're not feeding you points as it is. What happens when the S3 scrubs can't get anything? Now they're not feeding points either.

I should have prefaced that, I meant out of people I inspect/play against in Arenas. I'm not talking about the general populace who doesn't even have an arena team.

That 1300 point team needs the <1200 point teams and so on. The WoW arena ladder is basically a pyramid scheme.

I applaud your efforts to argue with numbers but you've neglected weapon/OH, ranged slot, lower tier shoulder, the fact that someone playing for 26 weeks must eventually improve, etc.

Agreed, it is a pyramid scheme, which is why the rating requirements are stupid.

What would make more sense is, must be ranked in the top whatever % of your BG in last week's standings, to buy whichever item. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. Just slapping a number on it, and saying it's good, is really stupid.

I run 5v5's with 4 other people, we all have 2+ characters. Our first team does decent, our second team consists of 4 hunters and a paladin.

Our second team has never rated over 1550 ever. We usually go between 1450 and 1540, that's it. Every one of us on that team has full season 3 minus shoulders and weapons of course. Every one of us has 5k points banked and waiting to spend it. When season 4 comes out, we are going to buy our gloves and not pvp in the arena on them again. So, that leaves us with 4k points left over and another team out of the running in S4.

Our other team has full S3 minus shoulders. We all have 5k points banked. The first week we will get to 1700 without an issue. So we will all buy like everything the first/second week and play for maybe a month after to get points and play with our new gear, then we are done. Yet another team out of the running.

You think that our 2 teams are the only ones with this mentality?

There won't be a season 5 before the expansion and if you think they wont reset the point totals with the expansion you are crazy. They arent going to let people hit 80 and buy arena gear that same day. It won't happen.

Honestly, the change doesn't bother me that much. I just think that it would have been more logical for them to change it like this for season 1 of the 80's bracket. Everyone will be on equal footing in greens and blues, not the top 1% staying top 1% just because they had an advantage from the prior season...

Well, most people I see are using the S1 ranged slot because the upgrade is shit. I myself use the S1 War edge because I had 9k honor leftover after I bought all the S3 honor gear. Can't justify spending points to upgrade it unless I bank 5k before S4 hits. Everyone and their fucking brother is already wearing S2 shoulders (the best they can get) which is why that S3 shoulders had a rating requirement. Weapons, I'll admit, I don't pay much attention to. Scrubs use Honor weapons, blacksmiths use those. I've been using a Deep Thunder since like June, served my purpose just fine. Upgraded to SH last patch.

And no, people at 1300 don't always improve. On one of the first weeks we fought with our alt teams we ran into a Prot Pally/Holy Pally combo. You're never gonna convince me that teams is ever going to be 1500. PvE specs, shitty class comps are always going to be on the bottom along with the retards. Like it or not, if you've been doing arena for longer than 6 months, you've got 95% of the shit you're going to get if you're not capable of breaking past 1700.

Those are the people I see constantly, the people who got their 250 points a week every week through all of S2 and now this far into S3 are pretty much decked out.

I'm willing to wait until the first season of the expansion until I bother again. And I'll be sure to get my points every week on every character I care about so I don't fall behind for when I actually do want to make it a focus.

I've lost 10 games every week through all of season 1 and 3. I have pretty much every item I can get on my priest. I think maybe an upgrade of something like 30 stamina if I replaced all my gear with S2/3 gear instead of the 1/2/3 amalgamation I have.

Pretty much won't bother queuing come S4. No point. And for the people who actually play legitimately but can't break 1500? Yeah, they're going to quickly say fuck it as well.

So yeah, you'll have to rely on twinks/rerolls to inflate the point value. Enjoy having your top rated 1800's team.
