| Plugged In Like Neo | I guess the reason I liked priests in WoW is because my previous experience as a healer was 4 years of a cleric in EQ. Going from having one fucking smite spell to having an entire offensive tree was rad. I always felt weird casting spells in plate armor too. Never was into the whole cleric/shadowknight/paladin thing. Spellcasters just feel like they should wear cloth to me. It was a nice change going from a plate wearing cleric that spammed one button regardless if I was in a group or raid to not being encumbered all the time and being able to actually kill things on my own. /shrug. |

| Vanguard - Blood Mage, Disciple (healers that do damage - one by magic, the other through melee attacks, and they can heal through combos!) DAoC - Friar (a rogue in a robe that uses a staff and can heal a bit), and that class that cast all spells/abilities through its pet while the actual player sort of floated as an ethereal spirit (Necromancer? I can't remember, but it was an interesting take on the class). Also the Albion class that just tossed massive amounts of elementals at a foe. You would watch them kill mobs and see rock elementals and wind elementals bum-rushing the bastard. Finally, the Midgaard pet class that had one skeleton 'commander' and a bunch of other pets that healed/ranged DPS'd/melee DPS'd. I thought that was interesting. Hibernia had an 'Animist' as well that used stationary mushrooms and shit to do things. |

+1 Internets | i also have a great fondness for CoH's Defenders, they had decent dps and had some nice ae heals, throw in CoV's Brutes- TONS of fun to play, not really a tank, and decent dps to boot if slotted right EQ? Monk... hands down, easy to play, but it took real skill to play well, and a lot of fun WoW-Druids... why? shapeshifting and able to do just about any role well if specced for it and can backup the other roles I originally sort of liked my EQ bard, but eventually had less and less fun with it, till i pretty much quit the game |

| I always hear the name Blood Mages bandied about when talking about interesting classes. What's so cool about them?

the party up and knowing when to drop the big heals to save someone's ass. They were also horrifically overpowered for most of beta in addition to having a cool design, which is why so many people have such fond memories of them.

| Yes, the Blood Mage takes that 'healing from damage' part of the Shadow Priest and makes it an integral part of the class. Similarly, the Disciple takes a similar bit from Feral Druids and integrates that into the class. It certainly adds to the enjoyment of the class when you can do damage in order to heal. Staring at health bars and smashing one button (a la WoW or EQ) is boring for some. So in VG, you can stare at health bars and smash 50 different buttons (I kid!) The challenge comes in balancing damage output and healing, or more traditional healing classes (cleric, shaman) can be sidelined. So these sorts of healing classes are best made from the ground up. Adding a damage-dealing healing class to WoW at this point in the game might break it. Which is why shadow priest and feral druid heals were made small and insignificant. |

| As "coolest" classes go, I'd have to also give a nod to the Tactition in AC2. And as much as Horizons sucked, they did have the Dragon class. Pretty different from everything else and fairly cool. Props to Defenders as well in CoH. Nothing killed faster, safer and better, then an 8 man defender team. |

| The writer of that article should be slapped. There is only one class that should be at the top of every list, and that is DAOC's animist. The mushroom lords, and their patented phase-shifting fungus turrets which utilized hyper-advanced magics to shoot projectiles through walls, doors, the very earth itself to find their targets, were the terror of PvP.

| i'm chalking one back to the old eq ranger. ok maybe it wasn't the coolest class ever but there is just something badass about being able to press that 1 stupid ability and die seconds later...yes the dreded taunt key. why do i bring it up? it was pretty much the sign of the shit hitting the fan when rangers were told to taunt ~well until they started giving every mob rampage and what not~ |

| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | I've had a 60 warlock, a few 50's and any number of classes/races up to the mid 40's and without a doubt my face melter is the most fun class I've played in WoW. Their was a time I couldn't find group to save my life let alone a guild, but recently it seems that Shadow Priests have really come into their own. Not a raid goes by where I can't find an ability/technique that really helps the group as a whole. They really are a diverse class and their is quite a bit of fun to be had determining how I'm going to approach an encounter. Also, because of how hard it was to get a group once upon a time my gear was pretty the suck for awhile, but I think I'm slowly catching up: My Gear, nothing too great, but getting better all the time Also, in EQ I was a druid, all the way. Really fun class in much the same way the Wow Shadow Priest is due to the fact that like SP a good player could bring a number of benefits into the raid dynamic. |
