It's funny that he mentions how these classes are 'against the grain' when the enchanter was pretty much the definition of a core class. The holy trinity was "tank/cc/healer" not tank/healer/dps.

He then goes on to list the loremaster because it's 'achemy, not magic!" even though it's exactly the same fucking thing. I mean EverQuest magic is a direct result of the influence of the gods while WoW magic is alterning the physical reality of the universe itself. CLEARLY UNIQUE!!

Not only that, but the loremaster/mesmer are pretty much the 'cc' classes of their respective games. Yet even more holy trinity classes. And a well played hunter was/is probably the most effective CC in WoW.

If you really want to think of 'out of the bun classes'...the burglar from lotro is far more unique then the fucking loremaster. Blood mage in VG doesn't get a mention? I mean that game was a steaming pile but at least they -tried- to be unique with that and the disciple.

Shitty article. I suspect the author is retarded or possibly a woman (mabtw.com haha!)

The choice of hunter is a bit odd..only priests and mages are more generic.

I always thought the Meta-Physicist class in AO was pretty unique. I think DaoC had a couple too, but it's been so long since I've played that game.

Total shit article.

EQ's should have been bard. You could copy-paste what they wrote about enchanters and tack on "While meleeing, healing, dpsing, tanking and buffing, every 5 seconds".

WoW's should have been warrior. Hunters were basically a ranger class with a pet, big deal.

I really don't see how WoW Hunters could make that list, for the most part I find them fairly boring to be honest and would pick a Druid instead any day.

Not having played all the games I can't really comment much, but I'll just say that I found my Friar back in DAoC hella cool - though it wasn't my main char as I played Midgard with friends.

Gotta go with this as well. My first toon was an advy, which I played for a short while. I rolled a Fixer after a couple days, and kept playing it right up to 220/11. I'm pissing about with an engi atm (lvl 126), and finding it incredibly fun. Especially when you twink to load a pet thats 80+ levels higher than you

Still haven't decided on the LE expansion since returning a few weeks ago.

Can we add "Mood" as a custom field to the vBulletin?

Don't see how you can't pick bard when a bard did what an enchanter did plus all that other stuff.

Also, by the time hunters came along there were already EQ necros and beastlords so not entirely sure why that'd warrant anything over the concept of the druid or even the shadow priest. Granted the idea that you change a form to gimp other various forms/abilities wasn't exactly earth shattering as, yep, that was the idea behind spell selection in EQ based on your role (it was there, not massively so but still there).

Asheron's Call 2's Tactician.

In fact, AC2 had quite a few cool classes (Hive Keeper, Invoker, Feral Intendant, Claw Bearer). Best part was you could mix and match skills. So you could be Melee spec'd with pets. Made for some good times.
