SOE Fanfaire 2008 - Las Vegas, August 14-17

Here are the details:

SOE FAN FAIRE [ Aug 14-17 ]

Quote:
Fan Faire Returns to the Las Vegas Hilton,
August 14 – 17, 2008!

If you've never been to an SOE Fan Faire before, you've been missing out! Fan Faire is a great place for SOE gamers to mix and mingle with each other and meet some of the faces behind their favorite SOE games. Here's just a taste of some of the great stuff we're planning:

* In-game tournaments
* Live, game-themed tournaments and quests
* A costume contest
* Lots of social activities, including a Kickoff Reception, a Grand Banquet and a VIP Party with live entertainment
* Sneak peaks at SOE titles currently in development
* The 2nd Annual Community Address from SOE President John Smedley
* Developer forums and roundtables

And that's just the beginning! No matter which SOE game you like to play, Fan Faire will be a blast! Even if you're not an SOE gamer, we encourage you to join us and bring your friends!

Passes will go on sale later this Spring, but you can book your hotel stay now! The Las Vegas Hilton is currently accepting reservations at the discounted Fan Faire rate of just $139 per night. Just call (800) 635-7711 and tell them you're with Sony Online Entertainment, booking code SSOE8 or click here to make online reservations. Space is limited – so get your room soon, in case they sell out!

Hope to see you in Las Vegas!
Yay for being back at the Hilton! Anyone planning on going this year?

Finally, the retarded prices last year made me skip. That and everyone and their mother had a convention, was cheaper to go to blizzards convention than sony.

Hope to take the FG this year, maybe meet up with some old guildmates FINALLY after like 4 years...

I went to one of those a few years back. Drinking the Warp Core Breaches in Quark's Bar in the basement of the Hilton with a bunch of EQ guildies was fucking bad ass. I stopped going to these things when they fired Saiphos (old Veeshan GM) as the main Fan Faire host.

Also, just a note to anyone who might go that has not before. On the last night of the FF that I went to, SOE held an event across the street from the Hilton one night and picked up the tab for everyone alcohol. GO GO open bar.

Of course, that was back in the day when EQ's subs were at their peak. I'm sure they couldn't afford such expenditures these days.

Thinking about going...both my friends who went didn't really love it but I'd like to say I've gone to at least one. Maybe this year's the year.

Went about 4 years ago and had a pretty good time. Stayed away from the "Official" events with the exception of the dinner/auction.

On a "Anyone going has to try this" note, in the Hilton, where the convention is, their is a Star Trek themed bar called "Quark's Bar". Go in and order either a "Warp Core Breach" or a "Borg Sphere", these massive $30 drinks that were meant to be shared. I remember being inside thinking "Were at a video game convention, eating at a Star Trek bar, and discussing Dr. Who and AD&D. Jesus, this is Nerd Nirvana."

I've never been to Vegas nor a SoE fan faire (did attend the DAoC one in Washington, DC way back in 2002) so this in intriguing. Sounds more fun though if you are meeting a bunch of guildies.

I can confirm that Quark's Bar is fucking sick. I took the gf there about 6 months ago. We got so fucked up that she fell down walking to the bathroom. Our klingon waitress had to help her up. Guaranteed good time.

Definitely going this year. Missed out last year due to scheduling conflicts with BlizzCon, but now that it's not happening around the same time I'll be hitting up the Fanfaire.
