| Mythos This game is still in beta but the NDA was lifted a couple weeks ago. I thinks its more of a MMO than Hellgate and offers a lot more playtime. I'm almost liking it more than Hellgate. Another thread was getting hijacked about this game so I thought I'd make a new thread. This game was originally created as just a test game for Hellgate. The instancing, loot system, group system, friend system, etc was all implemented in Mythos then transfered over to Hellgate. The game has been popular and they have decided to make it even more complex than originally intended. I don't think there is pvp and I'm not sure if there are any plans for it. A patch went live on the 15th that added a lot of this new content. Bosses with unique models (not just big versions of old mobs) A more complex skill system. It's similar to Hellgate's style. There are 3 classes, warrior, mage and ranger. Each class gets 3 skill trees. Around 8 or 9 skill lines per tree so about 60 skills per class. There are 6 tiers of skills. You have to spend points to unlock tiers and it unlocks the tier for all three skill lines. ![]() Loot is like D2. A lot of items drop, you vendor most of em. You can make a portal to warp back to a vendor and back to the dungeon to sell the loot quickly. When grouped loot drops are unique per player. You don't need to be a ninja clicker to get loot. If you see something drop, it is yours. Rarity going from least rare to rarest is kinda weird, it goes Blue -> Purple -> Light Blue. ![]() They have a nice instancing system. Towns are shared by players, fighting is instanced (Hellgate style) Something unique they have introduced is a map system though. When you get a quest it unlocks a map which is has always been a randomly generated dungeon with about 1-3 levels. You are allowed to go back to these areas. There are also one time use maps (the red one you see in my SS) These come as semi rare drops or a vendor sells some random ones. There are solo versions and 5 man epic version(you can go solo if you want, just expect stuff to be a ton harder, but a lot more named) These areas are also a lot longer. Usually about 8 levels deep. These instances also all branch off the towns basically. So limited time is spent in the overworld compared to time spent dungeon crawling. ![]() It seems like questing is the way to exp. They are fast and just beating the instance is a reward in itself. Basically all quests are to kill a boss at the end of a dungeon, and you usually see a few named on your way there. Its not the most exciting fight I've seen but here is my killing a boss for a quest. ![]() Last edited by Hachima : 10-17-2007 at 04:36 PM. |

+8 Internets | I got bored pretty quick. Not enough classes or differences between class trees, and there's such an ocean of shitty loot, not to mention you constantly kill "hard" monsters and get the equivalent of a cloth cap from them. |

+2 Internets | Sadly, this looks more exciting than most upcoming MMOs. From the previews I've read it will be subscription free, a la Guild Wars, but with the option to buy loot with real money. As long as the ingame-items-for-real-life-money concept is just a legitimate version of what eBay was for Diablo II, then it's no big deal. I just don't want to ever feel obligated to buy items to progress. |

| The game plays EXACTLY like diablo 2, it's a great blast to the past. Click-to-move is totally fine in top-down 2d. The latest patch went a long way to improving various mechanics, balance, etc... at this point it is more appealing than HG:L, sadly. |
