| Greatest MMO features that somehow never got copied We all know that making a good MMO is much about succesfully copying stuff that works. Here's what I really miss from previous MMOs: EverQuest: Vendors storing stuff sold to them, allowing other players to buy them back. EverQuest 2: the ability to directly log into a character from the launcher, skipping server and character select. Amazingly enough, other SOE games using the same launcher don't do that. |

| UO Smelting - for the love of god why can't we smelt scrap armor back into ingots, even at a loss. Housing - UO had the best housing at the end, build your own anyway you want. Vendors - Being able to place vendors at your house or to create some sort of shop. Karma - I loved the UO pvp system of murderers and flagging for pvp. Runes - being able to mark a rune for a recall or moongate was great. Granted wouldn't probably work in WoW world isn't big enough. SWG Tip - every game needs a /tip command. Resources - Best of any game having resources vary in stats and combining the rare stuff would get you the ultimate armor/wep but was costly. EQ Teleports - kill the gryphons and lets go back to a teleport every 5 minutes. I would rather sit on the ground doing something useful waiting for my ride then traveling on some winged beast I can't control and cant stop or change direction. | Ahem. EverQuest's LFG interface. It did not suck dick. Designers take note. Rickshaw Rocks couldn't even begin to lick the ball sweat off of that LFG interface. Just copy it already and be the fuck done with it. |

| AO: chat/raid bot system pocket bosses the metaphysicist class EQ1: the Iksar being KoS anywhere but Cabilis until SOE gayed it up zones of no return, like VP. whole zones underwater zoning into Fear/Hate. No game has that "dropped into a shitstorm" zone-in like EQ1 PoF/PoH Eve: leveling skills offline WoW: art over realism

+3 Internets | UO's skill and stat progression system. Fuck filling bubbles when I can progress my character in a more concrete and logical fashion. EQ's diety, alignment and faction system. There is no better way to define your character than by choosing what faction you want to oppose or align yourself with. How many people went out of their way to be KOS or friendly with certain racial capitals? DAoC's realm versus realm system, consisting of real time keep sieges with -three- factions vying for control of land and relics. By having three factions you have an extremely tenuous and fluctuating power struggle and make-shift alliances and backstabbing becomes a fundamental part of PVP, even though you can't say a word to any of your opponents. WoW's ghost walk system. Say what you will about the poor penalties, but no other mmo comes close to the integration of the death system. You die, spawn in a graveyard and find yourself in a spirit world of black and white and find your way back to your earthly remains. Absolute brilliance. Why does every other mmo (that's not UO) have you spawn naked/armed at a completely random location? EQ2's dialogue tree system. Even generic bullshit quests become interesting when you actually engage an NPC in a dialogue, although half the time the dev's don't bother putting in the necessary effort. When they do go through with it, though, it's fucking awesome.
