Wash, as someone else told you, players cannot cast while running in Vanguard. Your calling it that makes it difficult to take your post seriously (have you even played Vanguard?). Casters aren't zooming around in Vanguard doing flying leaps while simultaneously throwing out massive direct damage spells in impunity. Instead, Vanguard spell casters can cast while moving at a turtle-speed crawl. Effectively, the only difference between the traditional system and the Vanguard system is that in VG you won't mess yourself up if you accidentally bump the movement key while casting.

When I returned to the old system in Warcraft after having played Vanguard, the old way of doing things felt clunky and contrived.

No, I haven't played Vanguard, because everyone on the internet warned me about it and saved me $60. I was talking about caster limitations in general, and casting while running.

But back in the idea stages of it, I was a member of the Sigil forums, for years, and was as caught up in it as the rest of you, so I do feel your pain.

So you're actually commenting on a feature you haven't tested, or have no idea how it works. And deem it "stupid" and "overpowered" and at the same time make sure everyone who likes the idea is also "stupid".

I love the interwebs.

That's right.

The "stupid" comment was a joke, but the rest wasn't.

What the fuck are you on? Name me any current MMO where casters have a huge beneficial gap in power between melee? Did you quit playing EQ in '99 or something when wizzies were quad kiting and rogues were getting roflstomped when they tried to solo? Great power my arse.

You proceed from a false assumption. I liked Vanguard perfectly fine and stopped playing it primarily due to reasons unrelated to the condition it launched in.

However, since you said you try to take people's suggestions to heart (eg, why you didn't buy Vanguard), so perhaps you should give some merit to the notion that Vanguard's way of doing spellcasters is more fun than the traditional system. The issue doesn't affect me too much regardless since I always choose to play a tank-type character, but I still see no reason for games to continue using outdated systems.

Didn't think this warranted a new thread, so attaching it to this one. A good thread I found about "10 features to making your perfect MMO". Hope it isn't a repost, but some of these ideas are pretty good, while some are down right stupid. Hope you guys find it interesting.

I read the first 8 pages or so, but I do kinda miss this from Everquest:

(EQ) - When in a group for experience, nearly every mob was something like a raid-boss. No, I don't mean they did crazy shit, I mean that it was one of the following:

A) Pull 1 mob, tank tanks it, mob dies
B) Pull 2+ mobs, tank gets butt-plugged and/or healer gets butt-plugged (unless your enchanter is pro)

I know it seems kind of masochistic, but I just liked the epic feel of it all. When you 3-pulled (guaranteed death for an of-level dungeon) and pulled it out somehow with a shaman kiting with root and a cleric with all 3 divine aura's burned, it's tough to match something like that.

Oh and uhh..

(Fury) - LOL

FFXI was like that in the beginning. You had a static camp and just pulled.. if you got two you might be fucked. Of course years later they made it easier and people are better at the game, but still it was one of the things I truly loved about the game.

Anarchy Online: Hot linking of items in chat windows.
Summary: The ability to drop items onto the chat/shop channels and have other players given the ablity to click on the items and view their stats -- This is sooooooo useful.

WoW: Scripting the UI
Summary: Embeded LUA scripting engine that allowed for total customization of the UI screen.

So... you're saying you've never played another MMO then?

With every new MMO, I am disappointed it hasn't copied EQ2's guild system.
