EQ2 guild system. I love it.

I'm going to say Vanguards offensive/defensive target system. I really like how they have that set up.

EQ - lack of quest markers over NPC's heads. They're characters you should have to interact with, not friggin' vendor machines. Stick your quarter in, pull the handle, and get XP. Just say no.

VG- the ability to craft interesting items like boats. Not just buy them, but actually make that stuff. Fun.

Vendors storing stuff sold to them, allowing other players to buy them back.
VG has this.

the ability to directly log into a character from the launcher, skipping server and character select.
Amazingly enough, other SOE games using the same launcher don't do that.
DAOC had this. VG has it but it crashes the client if you try to use it.

Edit: I guess I should add something of my own. Well, someone already mentioned it, but UO's PVP system. It was beautifully brutal. I doubt we'll ever see another "Wild West" type MMO again. If we do it'll only appeal to the so-called hardcore PVPers. What made UO so awesome is the sheep were forced to play amongst the wolves. There simply wasn't anywhere else for them to go at the time.

EQ2 mentoring is probably one of the best things in an MMO ever implemented.

DAOC had those, Housing Zones was sorta weak tho, but the ability to salvage junk drops was great.

That's a big can of worms, and I'd put a big asterisk with it adding mostly with the ability to modify your UI. Shit like decursive (hey I'm good since I can spam click a fucking box whooptie) and the fucking retarded stopheal bullshit made it so any retard could raid and not be a dumbass.

I'm fine with being able to customize maps, or anything where the information is available to you already, but anything which adds control over the interface and lets you manipulate the interface at a speed which you normally couldn't do shouldn't be available to players. There was too much player abuse of the modding system, like the hunter mod that showed the race of a player when normal tracking gave no such information.

EQ2: Appearance Tab. I'd love to have the look of my Bloodfang Hood back on my WoW rogue.

QFT.

I still miss EQ's death penalty, as crazy as it sounds. It made me think a lot more about my decisions. It was nice having FD to fall back on though.

I also liked being able to trade old items to other guild members when I received an upgrade during a raid.

I thought CoH implemented mentoring first (Calling it sidekick)?

As for the best features:

FFXI: Auction house, subjobs, job switching, EXP chaining, linkshell switching, auto-translator, and earning your maps.

FFXI Jobs system. It is completely and 100% full of awesome. If any other MMO came out and had this system I guarantee the playerbase would absolutely love the game. One thing I've always hated is making new alts and doing the same shitty quests like getting keyed for places, doing long armor chains, unlocking things via quests. What I didn't like was the subjob system, no thank you.

VG Defensive/Offensive targets. It rules for not only healing, but also for tanking and doing rescues.

VG Casting while walking.. seriously, why do you need to stand completely still for a few seconds?
