I'm hoping he means more along the lines of being able to kill other players, chop up their bodies, and take their head home a la UO.

Hoho, there were far more diabolical uses right after a patch when the vendor had blank spots for your items.

Like putting my monks Vox rez staff on the vendor with 0 charges, buying it back and it being fully charged again so I could rez all the morons who couldn't tell the difference between the western wall and the scareling tower in PoF. Same with pumice stones if you had them stored up in a bank or most everything else with charges.

I liked being able to give NPC's my stuff and they equipped it. Like when you could dupe the War epics with summoned swords in the scabbard.I would hand the twin blades to the PoD in Kelethin and watch all the new players cry over the fact I just gave my epics away, and the pod looked bad ass with dual light sabers.

Or even more fun, giving rats in freeport newbie zone that tunic from velious that had -35 hp or whatever, newbies would put it on after they looted it thinking it was rad. Then they'd die. Then they go back to corpse and auto loot, and die. Then they changed it so up to level 9 characters or something respawned with thier gear, which was better because as soon as they equipped the tunic it would cause them to get stuck in a bind death loop....good times.

Or you could be nice and just give a rat a gold and some newbie would end up with a nice uber loot at some point. Or put something actually decent on them , or /ooc in EC when it was the trade zone that you gave a random mob a CoF or something and watch all the players in the zone rampaging around killing everything.

Used to be able to dupe doing it way way back in original EQ cause you could give them no drop stuff, and then monks could feign and disarm without aggro so just sit their and disarm till the weapon fell on the ground, not sure why that happened but it was cool.

I was playing WoW the other day and I was fondly recalling summoning weapons and armor for pets in EQ. That was a neat feature that I miss. Mind you, it was pretty broken, but it was still neat. And yeah, it was badass when you'd see some NPC with full summoned plate on in front of Freeport sometimes.

Zone lines? Darkfall has no zones and no instances. It is one big world.

You make the assumption that Darkfall is actually running on some actual computer server somewhere.

I wouldn't say that was broken - I mean they expounded on it to allow mages to summon pet only items (like a +500hp belt, etc) you could give to your pet.

What was broken, yet fun, was giving all the skeletons fine steel weapons in noobie lands and listening to the noobs screaming that the skeles are constantly hitting them for 20+ damage at level 1.

Something that I miss that kind of got lost along the way is low-level content and progression. I remember when it didn't matter that you were only lvl 17, because there was a lot of stuff to do at that level.

The games I play lately are obsessed with the "end-game." I feel like I have to grind like crazy just to be able to play. I really wouldn't mind a game in which it took a long time to get to level 10 as long as there was stuff to do.

I agree with this very much. I believe MMOs should make you start feeling like a Hero as early as possible. Just because you're level 10 should not mean you are incapable of battling anything but boars and buzzards. In my ideal MMO, there would be a clear sense of progression at various tiers in the game. Perhaps a story arch that takes a player from 1-20, branching across multiple quests and culminating inside the level appropriate dungeon. Think the Deadmines questline, which was great, only fleshed out and made more meaningful. After that you could be eased in to a grander story and other quest arcs, eventually reaching the end around max level. But, even then, you would be able to look back at that low level questline and realize where it stood in the grand scheme of things, and why what you did back then actually mattered.

Similarly, I would like to see more intelligent itemization at the low end. Vanguard is actually pretty decent at this, and does its best to fill out a characters slots instead of awarding you 5 shitty bracers from 5 different level 10 quests that you complete at the same time. I think there's no reason that even a low level player shouldn't feel like they are earning what is considered good gear for them.

As it is in WoW right now, you know all of the quested gear is mostly garbage and even many of the instances aren't worth running. It's all about hit 60 as soon as possible and then maybe, just maybe, some of the Outland gear would be worth picking up. I see no reason for this.

I mean something EXACTLY like that. The Draenai starting and BE starting zones were awesome....but too little too late.

I loved my time there, but I could spend all of 2 days playing there because my guild needed a paladin or a shaman, so I had to PL it up so I could get to the end-game.

I mean, I guess it's all about mudflation, but I wish an MMO would come out and say, "We're going to have 50 levels, and we have a full end-game developed for 50 levels, but we are only going to release 10 levels a year." Sure, people could blow through the first 10 levels, but doing that wouldn't seperate them very far from the people who were taking their time.

I mean, to some extent WoW is doing that now, but I think they started too late with the philosophy.

Instead of releasing everything all at once, let it creep to the size you want it. That would allow the things in development to get a lot more polish, as well as keeping subs.

Hell, if the game is fun enough, even if people play through 10 levels then eventually get bored because they can't progress in the way they want, they'll re-sub when the next expansion is released.

Or maybe, just release 1 level a month for 50 months. I don't know, now I'm just rambling.

So since you're incapable of taking your time and enjoying the content available to you you want the gaming companies to just not release shit at an even slower pace?

Seriously?

Someone rename this thread, "I have a really shitty idea."

No offense but these are horrible fucking ideas.

How in hell is it the companies fault that you decided to blow through all the content that you admitted to finding cool because your guild needed a paladin? Your brilliant idea is to have companies release content even SLOWER in an attempt to not have people blow through content so quickly and to savor it.

I'm all for seeing different points of views but your ideas really suck man.

Yeah, I can't say I agree with your latter posts. In WoW, it's more of a problem with it not being rewarding enough to take it slow and see the content.

FORCING people to move slowly is far from the answer. They just need to make it more enticing. As Itzena mentioned, the BE newbie zones were designed much better for a low level experience, although I would like to see it taken a notch further.
