| We bawlin boi! | Ahh, the good old WoW vs EQ has resurfaced. I don't know why we even bother anymore, its so old and tired. We all have our own views, but after the nth time, I gave that up long ago. I've abandoned the idea of a mmo with tons of depth and community in a non instanced world, that died with the abortion of Vanguard most likely. Thus, I don't play shit anymore except CoH since it requires so little time, which by genre alone keeps me playing, but still suffers from tons of issues. I'd imagine the next gen will try and make mmo's accessible to all platforms, being able to play on your handhelds and whatever else in a quick instance run. Someday we will have AI in a mmo to create and form our own raids like some kind of FF tactics game in our own instances, and just go to big cities to show all our shit off and maybe pvp. If I could tap into my inner nerd all over again, I'd just find a good pnp group to play with again, ah well. I dunno, I like more challenge, more puzzles and such that todays games don't offer. It was awesome as a kid going through dungeons in a game like Bards Tale, figuring out the clues you had to write down, on how to get into the next part of a dungeon, or how to get into another dungeon altogether. The current games give you everything up front, there is little adventure, discovery, or figuring anything out. Really what I'm hoping for are for console games to put out incredibly difficult, and challenging either ff tactics type games or really hard fantasy games to sink my teeth into. I don't have a problem with those who omgloveWoW, but I do have a problem when the small faggoty subset of those fanbois cry when anything is going to be made in a mold that is different. Ok I posted my like 5 posts a month in mmorpg, back to the sports forum for me.

| WarCry Network : Darkfall Dev Journal #24: Full Freedom Gameplay and Substance Here's another dev journal, it sounds like Dumar's writing it but with proper grammar and typing abilities and just being very polite. |

| We bawlin boi! | Oh and I forgot to add, because it deserves its own post. What the fuck happened to DARKNESS in the fantasy genre? For fucks sake, one of the great things about dungeon crawls in D&D was bringing torches, or reading in stories about how a dungeon of undead was so dark, the torchlight just got sucked up a couple feet from your face. I want to get the shit scared out of me, why the fuck is everything lit up like the inside of the goddamn Superdome? I played a human monk in EQ, and fuck I loved being scared as shit running through Kithicor forest at night, and had the zones been seamless where you had to dodge and weave things instead of hugging the zone wall, man that would have been a rush to make it through there. Ok I'm done.

| The more darkfall journals I read the more awesome they become. Whoever is writing these journals is an asshole, and I love it. Here's an excerpt from a QA response. Quote:

+3 Internets | Already fully mentioned but truely FFXI's class/job system. No more friending massive alts. One Character per account (normally) was actually a plus imo. You can play every class without rolling an army of alts and people would remember your name. Be an ass and no more hiding on alts. If something like that was to happen on WoW (not sure if it's even possible), link it with their forum account, I bet they'll be a lot less /b there. CoH/V sidekick and exemplar was an absolute PLUS! To be able to group with friends at other levels should be standard in every single MMO. Getting people to play a MMO and then saying whoops you can't go with your friends cause you don't play enough is just poor. |

| EQ1 illusion masks were mentioned way back. I think the only reason they were special is because there wasn't the option of every race can be every class. Add to that is that there was less itemization. You could tell something about a character just by what equipment you saw on them. Dark Elf in full Totemic? WTF is going on here? |

| I won't lie.. I've read all the DF journals and the last one was the only one that actually perked my interest. If they are being honest and they are that far along in beta with professional testers then I really do hope they pull this off. I think it will be very niche but I will be interested to see what happens when it launches.

+4 Internets | Shadowbane: The skill % system. Basically you got 10 points per level (less at 60-75) to assign however you wanted. You could be a mage and train up sword skill if you wanted. But basically your attack rating (ability to land a hit) depended on that percentage, as did your damage to some degree. Additionally, each weapon had a primary stat that affected its atr and dmg. You could raise sword to 150%, but you couldnt' neglect your armor skill or your spells either, so there were hundreds of different ways to build each class, depending on what weapon you focused on, what spells you wanted to use, and whether you wanted high defense, high attack rating, big dmg, etc. |

| God, that was awesome. When I was bored I'd go around to random vendors just to see if there was anything neat. Was good for finding tradeskill stuff, but once in a while you'd find an item worth buying too. I could seriously kill hours doing just that. |
