| [VG] Defensive Fighters -or- Why Warriors Suck Purely Vanguard related (for those few masochists of you whom still play). In my guild, I am one of two MT's; or, more specifically, one of two warrior mains. Right now, we're mopping up Cartheon / Marina / Vault. Our biggest issue right now is aggro control, or rather, *warrior* aggro control. As warriors, one halfling and one (me) lg, we have opted to rotate MT duties. We also have 1 DK, 1 Paladin who act as OT's. On the boss mobs is where we have been experiencing this bounce. First to the DK, who is at DC5+ and destroying the mob with insane DPS. Then it bounces to the Paladin, as half of the mobs in APW are undead and as such it's easy (as a Paladin) to attract some serious aggro. It's really not an issue of people playing their classes correctly at this point. We have examined every little nuance, worked on different strategies. We're taking into consideration force immunity here. We've discussed it at length. What I'm trying to find out - from anyone who's currently running a warrior in the end-game - is what (if any) strategies you utilize to keep and hold aggro. I'm truly asking for assistance here, since we can't seem to get our shit together and keep the mobs focused on us *all* the time. If anyone has a masterful collection of macro's with advice on how to use them, great. If anyone knows of a particular skill that either DK/Pal has which you have expiremented with and noticed a decrease in "bounce", great. Let's discuss? I'm really tired of watching aggro bounce from tank to off-tank to off-tank to tank again, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ta,

| I'd assume the Paladin isn't running his deagro buff on himself or the other off tank for one. Given that boss fights are longer in general the mindset that your class is broken because others can't manage there agro is kind of silly. I played recently just long enough in APW to see the revamps of the DK/Pal classes specificly the Paladin. The game was never designed to have the 1 alpha tank I'm sure you know this as far as what Wars do in VG to help lock agro. Its alot like it was in EQ we let ours get a 15sec + headstart before anyone engaged and that pretty much provided agro lock. |

| As someone who enjoys the tanking side of mmos I've played a DK to 40, PAL to 22, and WAR to 12. Of the three the WAR was the hardest to get into and, thus, the one I dropped the soonest. This is all after the tank revamp. The fundamental design of the warrior as having numerous different special attacks all with 10-15 second cooldowns didn't appeal to me. I have no clue as to end game tanking, but the class just seems like a mess of too many abilities with no clear focus. |

| Manny, Manny, Manny | Already starting to fag up the thread? Anyways, like Senen said, on raid mobs you have to have a few seconds to build up aggro. If you dont get a few seconds and certain classes go all out, then aggro will be fucked. I usually let the person die first so they learn, then i will rescue it off and tell dps to back off. lol |

+4 Internets | Really, I don't give a fuck about VG, but so what, some people play it, let them have their thread. Here I am contributing to a possible derail though, but it is over. VG bombed. Most people aren't playing it but some are. Move along to bashing some other potential bomb like AoC. |

| For fuck's sake Draegan, get over it. The VG hate train left about 6 months ago. Sorry Amadeus, I don't play the game so I have nothing to contribute other than to help kick that fagball out of your thread.

+14 Internets | Well amadeus while I can see the concern, I'm not sure you'd need a thread of its own here about tanking issues. It'd probably be better on the official boards, since there's not that many ppl playing vg at raid level reading here, I think(we do have a few in the guild though). However, I've read about the same thing, warriors are on the shitty end in terms of aggro, and a paladin popping some divine stuff(forgot the name) or fighting undeads will rip aggro off a war at will, and a DK can do the same once DC is up, while the warrior have pretty much no way to get it back unless he uses the forced taunts. That's what I've read as I haven't raided in VG yet, but it seems consistent with what you're seeing. Preraid warriors are fine, but at end game they get on the backseat. They supposedly make good dps classes though, in melee group for the buffs and stuff. I guess they could just raise the threat% on defensive stance a bit to balance it better with other tanks, and everything would be fine. |

| Well I'm only a 28 Paladin so take what I say with a grain of salt. Even in DPS mode, I can rip mobs off of warriors with basically no effort on my part at all. Tonight in CIS I was autoattacking and I took hate from our warrior (31). I also played warrior into the 20's and had a massively tough time tanking. My question is this: If these two guys are pulling aggro so easily, why not have them main tank? If it's an issue of gear, I would suggest gearing them out. If it's an issue of pride, I think its time to accept that these other two classes might tank better until a warrior revamp swings by.
