| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | WoW Going EQ in terms of loot I'm seeing some loot from the new WoW zones and I have to wonder are we going to see EQ style loot when WOTLK drops and later expansions? You know what I'm talking about, the bracers with +1000 to hp and +50 to stats. Just ridiculous "Well how else are we going to expand?!!" gear. I understand expansions need to grow but just doing "we'll make the next bosses have double hp" and "the gear have double stats" and call it an upgrade bullshit. Discuss. |

| How else are they going to upgrade loot? Each expansion is going to probably add 10 levels anyway, which makes most mudflation arguments moot, who cares if level 100 loot has 350 stamina on it, its not like you're going to be using Sunwell gear tanking Maelstrom bosses or something. They can always add things like EQs Focus effects, which they have already started to do with metagems, haste and expertise. Our Belts still dont have an enchant, neither do caster off offhands. More things like Illidan Healer mace effect as well. Going the "EQ loot route" isnt a bad or unexpected thing, especially since the combat basics aren't that different.

+31 Internets | WoW actually has a fairly excellent loot system with ilvls. I'm not sure there's a way to deal with mudflation entirely, but at least WoW's system builds around it in a competent and understandable way.

| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | Maybe I just too fond a memory of Blade of the Ykeshka and shit like that. Back in the EQ days where if you had a bracer with +2 strength you were uber. Now I see gear in EQ with +100 to everything, +500 to HP and wis, 5 focus effects, then 5 more from socketed shit and people going "Look at this ASS loot!" You guys are right, it has been a very slow uphill and nothing too crazy, but I do worry for the future of WoW items. |

| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | No kidding. I've seen EQ tanks with 25k+ and this was months ago. Top tier raiding guild tanks with 30k+ would not surprise me in the least. All this does is force increase in everything and call it "upgrading". You got tanks with 30k HP...so, we need mobs that quad for 5k a hit to make raids balanced...THEN we need a way to heal them, so we'll have to give clerics 15k+ heals..but THEN the mana requirement for such spells will be crazy, so THEN we have to increase +mana gear drops for the clerics. Oh and the mob was 5,000,000 HP so we'll need bigger nuke spells & rogue attacks for bigger DPS, which in turn will require adding +int/mana & +agi gear drops. I mean when does it end? Maybe I'm bitching just to bitch, because I don't have the answer and need to think on it, but their HAS to be a better upgrade methodology than simply "take every number in the game, no matter what it has to do with, and multiple by 1.5-2". Their has to be. Last edited by Salshun : 03-30-2008 at 08:47 PM. |

| There are many ways for Blizzard to diversify loot. The fact that you're in here creating another thinly-veiled EQ nostalgia thread is why you're paying them, not the other way around. We're JUST getting to see haste on a lot of gear, and we're at the end of the first expansion.

| WoW's itemization died horribly around the time of AQ. Everything became standardized purple and iLevels ensured that old gear would be rendered subpar within 1-2 zones. By the first expansion, inflation was already out of control and necessitated switching everything to * rating with diminishing returns, recosting stamina, and adding completely new attributes just to balance pvp. | Given the amount of items that itemization teams have to make, I don't think there's any long-term answer to mudflation. You can only create so many unique items like Yaks, primal, etc. The vast majority of the loot is going to be the same loot you had already with slightly bigger numbers than before. That's basically the way it has to be. |

| +Internets can now be exchanged for free original thought potions! | Hopefully not. Yes I want it to be a WoW vs. EQ thread in a way, but not a bitchfest. Just asking the question "is just doubling mob HP and gear stats with every expansion an upgrade pitfall we'll never escape from?" |

| i'm somewhat curious to find out where they take the storyline. Illidan is dead, Arthas presumably will be. What's next? all out war between the Alliance and horde? Lothar reborn to assault Thrall? What loose ends are left, what characters still exist that we haven't seen? |
