God damn, everytime I read one of these threads I have the biggest urge to play again. Wish I could convince a rl friend or two to follow me down that daunted path.

Anyone remember the name?

His maps were the shit. It wasn't just the presentation, but the scale was always spot on as well. I think one of the last ones I saw was for Plane of Hate.

I still have my binders of maps printed out from EQ Atlas and some Japanese site where the guy painted these beautiful color maps. He didn't do every zone, but the ones he did were awesome.

I break these binders out anytime someone in the office suggests they were a bigger dork in EQ than I was.
You have me beat by a small margin, although I still have plenty of maps / item stats printed out. I'm pretty sure I still have lots of market math papers, I used to make a pretty good amount of money buying, reselling, and trading in Gfay. I was sad the day "mrbobthemule" got a name nerf.

Well, I just pulled out my old EQ binder full of maps (haven't opened the thing in literally years) and flipped to the maps of Guk. Looks like the name was Chizuya. Googling confirms it. They all used to be at http://www.nx.sakura.ne.jp/~chizuya (that URL is on the bottom of my old Guk map) but now it's just a blank page.

[EDIT: wtf, why won't it post the text of the URL if I put actual . in it?]
[EDIT 2: Pinski's a genius, thanks!]

Uncheck "Automatically retrieve titles from external links".

I still have my big binder of maps that I got from the same places. I'll probably keep it forever.

Ditto. I still break it out too, whenever I renew my account (usually once every couple of years, and if they ever make another damned Progression server, then too. Make one, please.).

I felt bad for the eqatlas guy when they came out with the maps feature. You could tell he put a ton of time and effort into his maps, and they all looked gorgeous. His final message wasn't sulking or anything like that-- he just said he was stopping-- but still, felt bad.

I wish I could just see the first EQ site, the basic flash site with music, one more time. I remember sitting in one of my network classes just looking through that site over and over again.

Eventhough EQ didn't boast the number of subs WoW or other MMO's today, the community was so different. When I played WoW and all the time i've invested into EQ2, the boards, guild sites, resource sites, etc. just are not the same.

I guess nothing will ever be like the days of EQ.

Everyone was just a little more innocent than they are now.

Alla's was decent once upon a time, like before they were bought out by IGE or Yantis or whomever.

Was it Allakhazam's that was the first Wizard spoiler site? Even though my main at the time was an enchanter, I used to go there to check out what the new INT items were. I don't recall there ever being a good enchanter class site for a really long time.
