You can sign up with a cancelled account. Probably have less chance to get in..but might as well try.

you can go straight to https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/acco...ta-opt-in.html to opt in (USA accounts, replace worldofwarcraft with wow-europe for Euro)

I did it with both my currently inactive (expired) accounts, it let me although you probably need an active account to qualify/play beta.

After playing TBC beta to 70, tbh I'd rather not know too much and have it all be a suprise when the expansion is out.

I actually restarted my account, but you can do it even if it's not active. I restarted because I'm not too sure if you can get in with an unactive account though, even though I do remember people getting in BC beta with inactive accounts.

how long was the wait between BC signup and beta start? about a month?

and i signed both my accounts up (mine and the wife's) - because i did some figuring and the wow-europe went live at noon, so i had account managment up and right at 3pm eastern (noon pacific) the signup went live over here....

Who knows, it's blizzard, they might want to actually get every talent trees in and max lvl cap before starting it, and currently it's something like half the classes and lvl 75cap in alpha. Meaning, not anytime soon most likely. Then again, there's been no patching in about a month or so, they had to prepare the WWI thingie, so their internal build might be ready for beta.
