Almost humorous argument.

Without gold/time sinks and items, you really have nothing to work toward achieving through questing and such.

Recreational "achievement" is about goals. If you bypass the criteria (challenge, gold, money/time sinks, it's meaningless.

The other aspect is that this involves the business of entertainment. Time sinks, which is what these are, essentially, keep you playing and keep Blizzard successful.

Twinking is a viable option, and is available for most past a certain point in developing their characters. I really don't see a massive need for purchasing gold in a game like WoW. Then again, I haven't needed an epic mount.

Rayne, if you read my post where I quoted you that you refered to you'll see I was (and still am) giving the arguments that botters and gold buyers would give.

And he wasn't calling a spade a spade, he was making some over the top personal attack.

Because you're comment made no contribution to the thread what so ever. All you were trying to do was the childish "I don't care I still do it because I can" comment. If you don't want to be treated as a child then actually make an argument and don't just jump in with some juvenil remarks.

No, you dumbass. The statement of "if you don't like that part of the game don't play" is the childish remark. It is not going to get you anywhere with someone who is engaged in the actions that you dislike. It is what makes no contribution. It serves no purpose.

Personally, I wouldn't put myself in that position. But whatever floats your boat man.

I think the big point here is, cheaters really have no legitemate argument when faced with the rules of the game. You vehemently insisting that they somehow do by "playing the role", is what pisses people off and makes it appear that you could very likely be one of them. If actual gold buyers/botters want to debate thier points, they know where we are. Let them come and do it themselves.

The problem is that they won't. They KNOW they're douchebags without a leg to stand on in an open forum such as this.

No, it's the logical and correct remark but cheaters don't care about logic and right and wrong, they care about getting ahead by any means necessary.

How is it ?
Hmm don't like how Judges score your boxing fight, either don't fight or Knock the guy out.. Don't go out and bribe the judges... Its pretty simple really.. If you don't like how a game implements certain things, either learn to live with it or MOVE THE FUCK ON!

If I accept that premise, than who is the argument for then?

For legal/financial reasons for the company and to help maintain balance and a stable economy for those who do play by the rules.

The real issues are for those who are gold buyers who need to understand that they impact the game, other players, and the companies who own and operate the MMO.

The argument is that if you have enough of a problem with some of the mechanics of the game to cheat than you should not play.

That argument is directed quite plainly at those particular people who are also totally unaffected by it.

Well they are affected by it, if they some how resort to cheating.. Bob and Cindy playing the game for fun not using any bot programs apparently aren't affected by it, because if they were then they wouldn't be playing.

I guess try to find the root of the problem is beyond your comprehension. Go ahead win the lawsuit, now all the farmers in china will create a different program and will laugh at the American courts, or programmers in Russia will develop the next Glider. How does that address the problem of the botters in the game consuming system resources and annoying players? Let me help you, it does not, by suing glider's maker they are just trying to make another buck. it does not gonna help at all reducing the glider use. Those 100 thousands copies of gliders are already out there. If I were the guy and I lose the court Ill made gliders code open source and leave it there in the internet for other programmers to pick up where he left off.

Trust me if he loses in court Glider will not see the light of day as open source. He will probably be bared from releasing any and all source code associated with the Glider program.

If blizzard wins the suit, they will probably aquire the Glider source code and be able to adjust warden to block those 100 thousand glider copies.

So please enlighten us what is the problem? Better yet, what is your solution for the problem?

Isn't glider written in .NET now? The nature of .NET is that the EXE IS the source code, although it might be obfuscated. Is he even the sole person with access to the original source code?

Opps, a co-author from Russia releases an update without obfuscating it or releases the source with comments and all.

There are a lot of ways the project could be carried on if he lost the lawsuit.

When I say they aren't affected by it I mean they are not going to actually change their minds and either stop or quit.

Because they aren't.
