| Well from WoW I really fell in love with BWL and Naxx.. someone said it was the apex of wow raiding and I couldn't agree more. As for normal zones Nagrand was really beautiful and I also liked the Shimmering Flats area for some reason. My favorite zone ever is The Sanctuary of Zitah from FFXI... anyone who's been there knows exactly why.. the music (Movie below is just music) YouTube - The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah |

the difference is i know what my character is doing in a zone like nagrand. the reason why high fantasy works very well is that people know why their characters are there, what they're doing, and who they're fighting. battles become more involved when you understand the battles. the majority of bc is a giant mess of garbled junk. i follow lore pretty close, and every dungeon and zone in wow vanilla had meaning. tbc has lost me. i've tried to follow, but i can't. it's just too messed. i don't know what my character is doing in hardly any instance. what is he fighting? why? i don't know what the hell i'm doing in mechanar or any tk instance. what the fuck are the consortium people? true space aliens? the zones in vanilla were great. tbc instances suck complete ass asthetically as well as in terms of design and gameplay.

+2 Internets | Have to agree with Darkness Falls, totally epic anytime it changed hands and you were inside or going inside. E-main was awesome too, but that's more about the battles that took place there, not so much the coolness of the zone. Solb was probably my favorite zone from EQ, followed by Unrest and then Seb and ToV. Multiple tiers of content to do in a zone is awesome. When you entered any of those zones, you had so far to go until you could complete the entire thing. I remember getting to Unrest and seeing someone in Bronze, and making my first goal to be in full bronze. Stuff like that is what makes zones amazing, imo. I always look forward to playing those zones when I go back for a Nostalgia trip. |

+1 Internets | From EQ: 1) Guk, specifically undead side, which was a ton of fun on my necro, from early groups camping Lord/AM/Hand, Frenzied, etc., to later soloing it. 2) Plane of Fear: nothing was more tension-filled than those first times zoning in and breaking into PoF. Either it was going to be an enjoyable afternoon/evening, or it was going to be a shit-fest of corpse dragging and rezzing for hours on end. Still, to me it was the epitome of risk/reward. From WoW: 1) Scarlet Monastery. I think it was the first example, for me at least, of dungeon broken up into segments, so it made it easier to experience it at your own pace, rather than having to plow through it for hours on end like old EQ. At the time it was like a lightbulb going off in my head, like "wow, what a great concept". Plus the PvPing in front of the instance entrances was hilarious for a while. 2) Karazhan. I like the design and concept of the whole place, even though most of us have done it to death by now. I liked the quests to get keyed, which wasn't based on random killing of placeholders (hello Seb key), and it really felt like as you increased in power, you got further along in the quest chain, until you finally entered Arcatraz (probably one of the harder normal dungeons) to get the final piece. Then when you zoned into Kara, it was really cool the variety of encounters there. I wasn't spoiled by strat websites, so our first clears were trial/error and a lot of fun. Moroes and dealing with the random adds ("wait, was that guy there last time?"); the opera event (the whole concept is wonderfully executed imo, I particularly like the Wizard of Oz one and how the different NPCs kinda relate to their movie counterparts); chess event (sure it has always been easy, but the first time it was kinda neat playing it out not knowing what to expect other than knowing you had to kill the opposing king). |

Nothing was more satisfying than a good fear break though. Enchanters were gods among men.

| Plane of mischief pre revamp= I spent days in this zone with afew friends exploring the quests trading cards. What i think i liked about it, was that it was private and fun. I felt bad for the warriors and melee who couldnt bind in this zone. I quit eve after the revamped it (True story). Crystal caverns was a great zone also, very relaxing atmosphere and made you felt like you were deep underground hidden from the world ![]() |

| EQ1: Grieg's End - Outdoor dungeon that was NEVER in use, so I could farm it for rares all day...awesome for ranger. Twighlight Sea - The first time I zoned into it I fell in love. The only good thing about an Emp raid. Lake of Ill Omen - Fantastic zone, spent so much time there. WoW: Duskwood - loved the feel to the zone WC - my favorite instance. |

| I'd agree that Karazhan was an aesthetically very pleasing zone and with much love given to details, but my experience of it was spoiled by the min-maxing attitude and the dps-races that took hold in WoW after Naxx. In fact it was raiding Karazhan were I realized that I'm done with raiding in WoW, because I felt tired of it despite the beauty of the zone.

| Greater Faydark does bring back a lot of memories even though I played a dwarf. Kaladim also had some damn good ambiance that brought the fantasy books I read to life. Dwarves in their mountain fortified city and the blacksmithing sounds and the tiny houses. High Hold Keep because of the amount of drama that would involve everyone from the basements all the way to the nobles. I loved that place. |
