| Loved the whole expansion of Kunark. The entire thing was one huge fallen empire and the old statues of Iksar and ruins of the once great empire now crawling with ghosts of the old iksar inhabitants, the new living inhabitants, ect... really gave it an omminous almost apocalyptic feel. Almost any zone there impressed me, Dalnir, City of Mist, Sebilis, the mine where the Circlet of Shadows dropped, Karnors, ect... they all had that feeling of a long lost civilization once having dominated the area. Unrest was also an amazing zone, and the fact that it was also a fallen area that was once an awesome estate definately helped add to the mystique. Mistmore, again more of the same fallen area with a much brighter past. My favorite newbie area has to be the area outside of Akanon, the clockworks, the huge windmills, the gnomish gears and the Minotaur Champ that walked by and owned you on occasion. The oasis had the perfect mix of danger from the giants and the great exp of the crocs, not to mention the decent named Lockjaw with a nice piece of level specific loot that showed up somewhat regularily. South Karana's Aviak section was awesome, most of the zone was a wasteland and useless but the Aviak city was a great place to hunt and the odd named that could come by such as the pegasus was a nice bonus to hanging out there. As far as raid zones, I have to leave EQ and say that BWL has to be the champ, that zone had complex fights and the progression through it racing with other guilds for firsts was really really fun. It had the perfect difficulty level for a high end raiding zone and the loot was perfectly balanced for that difficulty. BWL had TOV beat in every way except the lack of different paths and sections. Had it been a little less linear and had multiple things that needed to be done in different wings in order to gain access to Nef it would have been perfect. |

| Skyfire? Just kidding... My favorite zone is Gnomeregan in World of Warcraft, but during beta as it was toned down upon release. I remember this zone being quite challenging at the time and it seemed completely different than anything I had previously seen in a fantasy MMO. The alarm ticking bombs kept the excitement level up in clearing, as one missed alarm could end all of your progress. The final encounter used to be much much harder, and playing a druid I remember the frantic stress of running to close off incoming bombs and keep my group alive. The wackiness and innovation of the "click this so bombs stop coming" was really unique at the time. The loot was commensurate for the challenge as well, but the zone probably could have benefited from more nameds and a less spiralling design. From EQ I agree with Sebilis taking the cake. |

| My favorite zone was High Hold Keep. It was a melting pot of all different levels. You could conceivably go from lvl 20-60 and never leave the zone. I also liked how it was a halfway point between qeynos and freeport and provided a nice place to hang out before finishing your run. As a lower level it was also a bit of a rush running through high hold pass and trying to remember which way to go to find the keep. Favorite raid zone was Kael arena. First time killing Avatar of War was such a rush. |

| Favorite zone... EQ: I really enjoyed NTOV for raiding and for grouping, I enjoyed late in my EQ life Cazic-Thule after it was "Beefed up". Regardless of the zone, the game really revolved around who you played with.

| Fear. Back in the early days pre-kunark. Trying to break in and run/drag bitches to the wall, only to have one dumbass zone in, panic and run the wrong direction only to get gobbled up by the dracoliche. Suicide Squad. Run like hell, and if you can't feign death then just keep on running. Because you're fucked, sonny boy. Necros ftw. Also: Unrest trains were pretty horrible back when. It still made the zone fun, imo.

+5 Internets | Man, I liked Gnomeregan, except for the hellish trains you got when you aggroed something on the other level in those long corridors. That was really frustrating and inexcusable, and fucked over countless PUGs. |

| When Kunark came out I didn't like it at all. On the very first day some friends brought me to Kanor and on the end of that day my faction with the evil outpost was screwed up. WTF? Also I wasn't used to getting jumped by all kinds of aggro yardtrash ever since my early days in Nektulous. You could get lost easily, because the outdoor zones didn't have many features to recognize, invis wasn't working anymore and so on. In contrast to level 50 easy mode in retail, Kunark felt very rough and uncomfortable. Many years later we all know that it was still one of the best expansions. As usual with EQ, there was a ton of unexpected stuff hiding beyond the surface. Who could have expected Sebilis, Chardok and VP at that point?

| sebilis sucked nuts. Not having a zone out right next to the zone in = gay. Not to mention the affirmative action crypt door for rogues You couldnt zone out of chardok right after you zoned in either, but I liked that place. My favorite zones in eq were in no particular order beholder, lower guk, solusek b and qeynos hills. |
