Only if you haven't figured out what an incredibly good idea switching ctrl and caps lock is. With WASD Caps Lock is the easiest key to hit other than space, and it's retarded to leave it set to a useless key instead of an incredibly useful key.

Brilliant, my left pinky is grateful to you. And yes, I never considered that, even though I have disabled CapsLock at work. Though I won't switch, but duplicate Ctrl to CapsLock.

(this thread is turning out so much better than the subject would have you think)

I used to hit it all the time back in late EQ and early DAoC. Was a pain because whenever you hit i, it would shut down the entire program. I later just removed the windows key.

Yeah I have a G15 for my main box, but I still don't like the windows keys. I hit them on accident often with the way I type. Especially on my fucking laptop. So many fucking times I go to type ALT-F, S to save a document and hit the gay windows key and have find show up. Pisses me off epically.

I'm pretty sure I said I type twice as fast on the old keyboards, which is the real reason, with the lack of a windows key being an added bonus reguardless of the fact it can be disabled since the way I type I'll still manage to hit it from time to time and never use the windows keys.

"Windows hating, haxors, wannabe uber edgy open source kids"? WTF is wrong with you. Please, explain to me, in detail, how someones choice in keyboard design/layout has to do with them being "windows hating, haxors, wannabe uber edgy open source kids"?

Nail? Head? Defensive are we? Your not the only person in the world that is directed to or I would have quoted you like I am now.

So you are saying that a keyboard without a windows key is better then one with a windows key even if it's disable or popped off due to the sheer fact that you hit it a lot? You realize if it doesn't have a windows key then some other key is there or extended right?

You have to admit the majority of people that don't want a windows key fall into two categories.

1.) They suck and hit it during games and haven't taken 10 seconds on google to disable it.

2.) They think they are edgy linux gurus and if anyone saw them with a windows key they would be shunned so they stencil a penguin onto it.

You sir fall into option numero uno.

I fail to see how googling it, disabling a registry key is in any way a faster or better solution than popping it off with a pen.

Personally when I am playing something intense I go by feel. Having nothing there is a different feeling than having a blank key there and lets me know instantly where my finger is.

I don't care if people do whatever but that doesn't mean others are stupid for having their own control preferences. Hell, some people use ESDF.. it's not for me but more power to them. Unless you are buying and are responsible for someone else's keyboard then stfu about it.

To the windows key comment I just snap mine off with a pen too. I don't want to edit the damn registry and I never use the key outside of a game. I removed it at first back when EQ would crash when you hit it by mistake, never needed it since.

Am I the only moron who uses the numpad for almost everything? Something about the standard WASD thing drives me crazy. I think I need the standard grid like structure that the numpad offers. I should probably just buy one of those extended gaming keyboard things that looks like a numpad but is larger with extra buttons and shit.

I used the numpad for movement and such when I played FFXI, just because that's how the game controlled by default. It wasn't that bad surprisingly, but mostly because you rarely needed the mouse for any actions in that game and attempting to move with the mouse was nearly impossible.

Most modern games I just use the mouse to move and therefore WASD is more natural for strafing and whatever else.
