Oooh, vent ranting! Let's see, people that play music over vent like we give a shit wtf they listen to. Mouth-breathers, literally. People with broken mics but are too cheap to get a new one from radio shack, so we have to listen to a helicopter in the background whenever the raid leader speaks.

| I'm generally not on vent when I play the game unless I have a few friends on it at the same time. I'm on guild vent during raids, then other channels when I'm hanging out with friends. Sure it's annoying when you have 20-40 people on at once, however when I refer to vent and using it a lot, it's just about chatting with friends while you're farming. |

I do none of that. I'm 40. For me, WoW isn't a social experiment or game, it's something I log in to to play and unwind. Faceless, anonymous people over the Internet don't interest me like they do the younger generation. I'm not deriding the social services available over the internet, just letting you know it has nothing to do with being anti-social. I just think it's odd getting into all your personal shit or drama with random, people you really don't know except at the other end of a computer screen. You blab on about how people you would probably never meet you would like to have a beer at in your local bar. I totally get that......with my RL friends that I actually do meet in real life and have an actual beer with. I don't need my WoW guildies to meet those ends, I have them already. Just like I don't need random hot-monkey-cybors from some supposedly internet hottie when I have that already in RL with my woman. So again, while I agree with you that Vent can be a good tool for organizing raids and such (and I don't ever bother using Vent outside of WoW), I hope you can see why more than a few of us don't bother using it for "social" reasons. It's the same reason I don't talk to strangers about random personal shit, and just because we spend a few hours a day playing the same game doesn't suddenly mean you are my friend. If I want to shoot the shit about what happened during my day, I'll pick up my phone and talk to one of my true life friends, maybe figure when we're gonna hang out next......instead of sharing my shit with guildies in between trash pulls.

| Nothing annoys me more then when you have someone ask you to logon to their vent to do something simple as chat or group. Are you serious? You can't type things out in a 5 man? |

Some days I don't feel like joining vent and I'm ok with not talking to anyone. It really depends on guild as well. I'm in a small guild of just close friends so if even like 4 people are in vent, that's a significant portion of the guild on a day to day basis so guild chat will be completely silent.

Its sorta funny too how you can tell which class the person plays by how fast the keytaps go: Rapid = tank, pause + rapid intervals = healer, timed taps = dps!
