Launching before would let them hit around the time that a lot of people are finished with Sunwell and bored, as well as the thing that happened before TBC where people start to feel like it's pointless to play until the expansion comes out. All of these people would be likely candidates to pick up a WAR box and give them a good launch. While these players might leave for WoW again when the expansion hit, they will have already bought WAR and have an account, making it more likely they will revisit it in the future which is much better than never at all. Launching after may have the benefit of grabbing people who saw the WoW expansion and weren't overly impressed by it, but I believe it would be a couple of months before people really start feeling bored of the new content. Possibly more.

| The best release time is a few weeks before. The casual crowd of WoW won't go though WOTLK that fast so it might take more then a few months for it to wear thin on them. The hardcore crowd will be done in 3 months easily though. But it would be better for WAR to release in a semi buggy state then on the same day as WOTLK with 10 million + returning players. Chances are Blizzard is sitting on the release date of WOTLK till they find out the release date of WAR. After all WAR has the potential if good to take a nice chunk of WoW's returning and current crop of players from WOTLK. If this is the case I would announce the release date of WAR as Dec 08 then when WoW announces WOTLK as November I would pop up a week later with open beta test then a week after that and decent reviews a moved up release date of November but earlier.

| Need more than a 'few weeks'. People will wait a few weeks, especially considering how Blizzard does their betas without NDA. People are going to be hearing about stuff and with release just around the corner they will be getting in WotLK mode. It needs to come months before or after.

+2 Internets | Exciting stuff. I was irked when I heard about the merger with EA, but I realized that EA has been on Fail mode when it comes to the online gaming and they want nothing more than to take a giant bite out of WoW's market. They'll accept any delay as long as they still believe WAR can provide them a stronghold in the billion dollar industry. Of course, there's nothing but an endless string of complaints about the beta from my perspective so who knows if this gambit will pay off. Hopefully it will, though, because Games Workshop needs a strong model for a 40k mmo to follow and if Mythic fucks this up and risks a 40k mmo there will be blood.

+66 Internets | Delay is due to EA trying to get all the orcs to sign exclusivity contracts. That way we can look forward to paying 50 bucks every year for the WAR expansion pack with simply new NPC names and nothing else. |

| Not terribly surprised, especially from recent feedback. Thanks Blizzard ![]() Seriously, though, companies now realize they can't shove unfinished pieces of crap out on the gaming community anymore and hope to get a decent slice of the MMO market. Fantastic.

+6 Internets | Honestly? The best time would have been right now if it was polished. They missed a great window. No WOTLK in sight, people bored, summer coming up when kiddies have more time to play, AoC, Lotro, EQ2, Lineage and others making no buzz whatsoever. Would have been real nice sales wise, imo. |

+13 Internets | I don't know why anyone is laughing at this or giving them shit about it. A) Delays when the game is not ready are not by default B) This was obviously necessary, and whoever wrote the original timetable when they switched devs was an idiot who has nfc how long it takes to make a truly good MMO. |

But in all seriousness, this was really the best thing for WAR. If it had released in it's current state, it would of been as bad as Vanguard.
