For shadowpriests, not warlocks. They'll replace FSW by T5, easily.

Isn't most of the badge gear now (esp the sunwell stuff) better than tailored gear? The few new patterns you got with the last big patch requires sunmotes too I think, which are nearly impossible to get?

imo its always good to be a miner with a new character, and maybe a skinner. You can get tons and tons and tons of gold while leveling up. If you really want tailor/enchant make a good combo, since you can DE all the crap you make to help level up enchanting. But imo its just better sending all the cloth you get to an alt for storage, then at 70 you can decide whether or not you really want to be a tailor, by which point you'll have banked a few thousand g in mining/skinning AH sales. PVP a lot in bg's between 60-70 too, since the s2 honor gear is much better than any blue instance drops for PVE and PVP.

Got a Q since the servers are down. I've been messing around with my old hunter and I leveled him from 57-60 almost entirely grinding in Outlands. Full rest exp and 10% xp buff meant I was getting +/-1250 XP per mob, it was nuts.

However, I had serious mana issues. I've already got my eye on the lvl 62 trinket from Zangarmarsh that procs mana, and I know Hunters get Viper at 64, but what the hell do you do until then? If I just open with Mark and use Arcane maybe 3 times in the fight, I'll be OOM in 2 or 3 fights. My typical routine would typically be to use mana on nothing other than opening with Mark and ending with Mend Pet. This would keep me going for a nice long time but it's boring as hell. I don't remember it being this bad back in the 40's and 50's, but that could just be selective memory. I think my MP5 is 12, and it shows. Is there something I'm missing here? I either auto attack my way to boredom or drink every 3 mobs, there doesn't seem to be much middle ground. The majority of my equipment is at BC level and my pet is 60

With hunters to level (especially as BM) you just auto attack and mend pet. Put a movie on while you do it or something.

The easiest way is to just reduce your arcane shot usage, and let the pet do more work, it's obviously slightly slower, but usually I felt it was faster than drinking every 3fights. I leveled my last hunter a long time ago though, at BC release, I had the 1.4speed rank14 bow, coupled with AQ40 crafted gloves that gave mana on hit, a serpent pet for the scaling breath on crit procs, so my pet was doing like 80% of the damage anyway and I couldn't run out of mana spamming arcane and multi. Also, I was downscaling arcane shot before they nerfed it.

I guess until you get aspect of the viper, you're fucked if you don't downrank or stop using so many special shots. I think steady also makes it better, since it's more efficient than arcane.

I believe they nerfed spirit at some point too for non casters, or did something about hunter's spirit interactions, but not so sure.

Arcane shot is the most inefficient spell that you use for hunters. Use less of that, more steady shot, and like they said, let the pet do more work. BTW, make sure you got a decent shot rotation, and dont clip your shots. If you need help with that go over to the Elitist Jerks forums and read the board over there.

he's leveling, dude, he doesn't have steady shot yet. and multi-shot, at least at low levels, is more inefficient than arcane shot.

You get steady shot at 61 or 62, he said he leveled from 57-60, in outland just grinding on mobs with rested exp. I think steady shot will do him good.

I'm actually leveling my Horde-alt hunter right now. At 56 and I have had zero reason to use anything but Hunter's mark, Auto Shot and Pet Attack; the only change is when I get 3+ yellow mobs on me at a time, then I bust out the Bestial Wrath. I also occasionally Intimidate casts, if I'm bored.

Really, you don't need to do anything but Mark, Send pet, and auto shot while you afk for 10 seconds and read FOH.

When you get AotV you can pretty much keep up steady spam reasonably, which is good as monsters finally start hitting your pet hard around then. The worst part is 62->64 when you have Steady and get to see exactly how powerful it makes you, but don't have the mana to support it.

No, FSW is still better for spriests and afflocks. For destro or demo lock, there are arguments that can be made for the 100 badge robe, or scarlet sindorei robe, sacrificing spell hit and damage for more crit. Belt of blasting, spell strike set and bracers of nimble thought are more or less unsurpassed until end game raiding.

I concur with the original sentiment - as lock you would be dumb not to get tailoring unless you have a raid guild to upgrade your greens and blues for you.

T5 legs and shoulders piss on FSW and the SSO robe is far superior to the FSW robe. A combination of badge and ZA loot supported by two pieces of T5 is more than enough to achieve a decent hit and crit rating to enable you not to spec affliction or demo unless you're the poor bastard who gets told to do so for specific encounters. I wasted so much time grinding the mats to level tailoring and then make my FSW only to replace it within a few weeks of raiding when I returned earlier this year. I honestly don't rate tailoring at all as a skill if you don't have access to raid patterns like Boots and Belt of Blasting, the former being BoP.

FSW is great if you don't raid--which I think is what people are driving at.

I dunno, I wouldn't want to be walking around on a PvP server in FSW. So basically it's great for Shadowpriests and Locks who spec affliction and spend most of their time in Heroics and Karazhan.
