Every encounter has a certain amount of predictability to it, you ignorant moron. Exhibit PvE: When you walk into a NPC encounter you'll have looked at what mobs the encounter is comprised of and you'll know pretty much exactly what to expect, or maybe not EXACTLY but you'll know what abilities they have and if you've fought the encounter before you'll have a good idea what strategy they're going to use, or you'll figure it out fairly quickly. Exhibit PvP: When you walk into [insert 2v2/3v3/5v5 here] and you're up against a [insert class composition here] team, you know pretty much exactly what to expect, or maybe not EXACTLY but you know what abilities they have and if you've fought [insert class composition here] teams before you'll have a good idea what strategy they're going to use, or you'll figure it out fairly quickly. But hell, what do I know? Maybe you expect a mage to start mortal striking your team, or a priest to stun lock someone. Plain and simple: there are only a handful of strategies that work in arena's and once you learn them and realise 95% of the teams you face are using them, PvP becomes boring. This is all assuming you have two brain cells to rub together to figure this out, which quite apparently, you do not.

| Good stuff, and you're definitely right about my HP, it's hard not to notice other casters nearing or breaking 10k in normal groups and I'm like HAI GUYS HOW ARE - OOPS STIFF BREEZE, I DIED. I think I found some solid evidence of your guys's hate of PvP-geared folks doing PvE stuff. I got invited to my very first Kara today not because of my massive skill and uber equipment but because they wanted WF totem for their 2 rogue, 1 ret pally, 1 prot pally group. We got about 1/3 of the way through and I placed second on the meters, just a smidge below one of the rogues (the other one being very low, and is the same seen in this pic). We reshuffled some members, got a new shaman, lost the main rogue, and after a bit I took this pic. I'm not trying to brag here, and I feel like the DM always tends to favor the guy posting the numbers, but it does seem rather amusing given the opinion voiced in the past page or two. |

| I've been running around as enhancment since I hit 70 with the intention to respec as resto but every group I get invited to is happy to have me as enhance. It is a lot of fun when I get into a group with a paly healer, druid tank, hunter, me(shaman), and a warrior and we have no CC except hunter. I love watching our DPS go through the roof. Also I get invited to rep runs where everyone is outgeared for the instance (except me) and all they really want me for is those awesome totems and blood lust which I don't mind.. Playing as enhance has been a lot of fun but I have one hell of a time getting gear. So far I have had tidefury kilt and helm drop which I'm told are hard to get drops for elem shamans seeking them so mabye I should respec to elem and use them. I don't know I have never tried elem but hot damn elem stuff is everywhere and Enhance stuff sucks balls... The World of Warcraft Armory ignore the Icy Weapon on my fists it is entirely for looks. I'd get better enchants but they are only blue weapons...

| Hey jabber is this you? The World of Warcraft Armory It looks like your elem how do you like it? I was thinking about trying it since enhance cannot heal for crap and I was thinking mabye an elemental build could. I hesitate because unleashed rage seems like such a great buff to have and dual wield is fun. But I am alchemy/herb which isn't the best for enhancement.

Most heroics were tuned to be completed in instance blues and crafted gear. With the huge uptick in stamina and damage the arena gear offers over dungeon set 3 you wind up with a much larger margin to play with. Now no gear will replace someones brain. However if I make a group or even if I join a group I almost always mark each pull and I will walk people through each fight if I have to. I have actually helped people find a few spells they never knew they had from time to time... If I have a monkey on the other end that speaks english I can usually get some decent results out of them. I did the grind from normal instances to crafted gear to heroics so I guess I am less leary of letting some kid decked out in ill gotten epics from joining a group provided they are able to listen.

Buffed up for Karazhan I have 35% crit on LB/CL, capped +hit at 16,2% (0.2 too much), about 8500 hp and 9k mana, some decent mp5 when I use mana oil and mp5 food. Chugging a pot here and there I seldom have mana issue, unless I go CL happy too much. My damage with wrath of air totem is a bit short of 700. As you can see nothing to write home about, but it gives some satisfactions, especially when you crit a CL, which overloads and the capacitator procs right after for something like 10k damage total or so... ahhh So far I always topped the meters and the others were not really close, except the enhancement shaman which is not terribly far and the rogue when he gets windfury. Yesterday doing up to Curator I topped at 900 dps or so, usually I fall in dps on the trash leading to Shade (damn magic immune mobs) but total damage is always the highest by a large margin (2.7 million vs 2.4million from the rogue on yesterday run, but he was w/o windfury as the enh shaman wasn't around). We have no warrior, so lack of sunder armor lowers the melee damage, this to be flat out honest. We are a bunch of casual players who ran some heroics, got a piece or two of badge gear and 1 pvp item if that, some have 2-3 pieces of S1 iirc. I don't like pvp even if I know I should get the weapon at least, I just get bored too fast. I'll semi-afk my way to the S2 weapon if I can find the courage to endure EotS runs long enough, but I doubt. If you use Recount, it's pretty correct: we tested it several times and we always got equal parses in 5/10 men runs. What scares me is the amount of damage our tank does (prot pally), it's not unusual to find her in 4th or 5th place. Yeah, we don't CC much (which boosts her damage a lot), not even in Kara. We run just one priest, 3 shamans (1 per spec), prot pally-feral druid as tanks, 2 rogues, 2 mages. Sometimes we have a lock in place of another dps'er. P.S.: When you get in some heroics, insist on running slave pens: pauldrons of wild magic and eye of quagmirran are 2 very good drops, I'm terribly unlucky and can't get them to drop, but if you don't have badges for haste spaulders, those ones are the best around at that level of gear. I got my lightning capacitator on our 1st Illhoof kill, so I won't complain too loudly ![]() Last edited by Miele : 06-25-2008 at 07:32 AM.

+1 Internets | Just be aware, it's not easy to get instance groups as a new rogue. Most groups want a mage or warlock, and if they do want a rogue there's 1247438 per server, and most will be geared better than you. |

| I haven't played WoW in 13 months. Aside from stockpiling gold or leveling an alt, is there much of a reason to play WoW until WotLK? Also, did Blizzard ever significantly reduce the mana cost for buffs? It's one thing AoC did right -- treat all buffs like auras, so the annoyance of repeatedly recasting buffs doesn't exist. AoC has some 4-hour duration buffs too, which was appreciated after playing a priest and mage. |

| I loved how all my buffs as a cleric in eq lasted, what was it? 2.5 hours or something? That shit was awesome. Honestly I don't see why most buffs can't act like paladin auras. "Set it and forget it!" style. At least self buffs for sure.

There is just that added level of complexity which is delt with when monster dispels. But, seriously- I used to not mind it but the major reason I quit FFXI was the fact my primary class in FFXI, Red Mage, was based around rebuffing 2~3 spells on 6 people every 3 minutes. This meant I was constantly casting buffs on people. Last edited by Vinen : 06-25-2008 at 10:00 AM.

+66 Internets | I always felt that buffs should cost no mana when cast while not in combat and have infinite duration if cast on someone in your party/group until you leave at which point they fade in 5 minutes. The reagent thing needs to go though, and go away bad. Why games keep using reagents and not catalysts is fucking beyond me. |

| I really do miss the 4 hour extended duration EQ buffs. Sit around in PoK, catch MGB buffs, go solo for hours.

+12 Internets | okay that SS is pathetic.. a ret pal with half the damage of a shaman, WITH windfury? somebody needs to respec and go to healing because they fucking suck hah. Even i would have done more damage than him by that point while tanking as a prot warrior, jfc |
