Now I got a major problem tonight..

I was playing fine for awhile then my connection crapped out so the game shut itself down. Upon reopening the game now, I keep bluescreening. What I did do about an hour ago was change my sound device from software to hardware (actually did improve my fps). There's no way I can tell to change this setting back without going in-game (which crashes). Any ideas here? The BSOD is a physical memory dump at some address. Other games are working so I don't think its a video card problem or sound card problem but something on VG's end.

Delete your cache files. that may help. Its in the bin files in the VG folder.

Option 2: uninstall sound card driver. Should force software sound to take over in game, or even no sound. Either should work to let you change the setting.

If you knew the STOP: code on the bsod, I can prolly pinpoint the problem. If you are lucky, almost all the way at the bottom of the BSOD it might point to a driver file also if the bsod reappears.

Is it GU4 paladin changes or the exp curve changing? Paladins are ridiculous! I didn't twink my paladin at all and managed to get 17 in like 8 hours played. I used a 100% vet pot for 16-17 but thats it. Normally I wouldn't mention it since I don't like nerfs but since I doubt i'll be in it long term i'm curious if paladins were always this good. paladins are bugged atm, you're supposed to get a 15% dmg increase from using a shield but instead receive +100% dmg bonus.

Not sure where you are getting your infos but they are wrong, paladins are getting 15% dps bonus nothing more and they are still the lowest maintained dps, war being first and DK second. But on burst dps DK are first with paladins close second, and war last.
It was tested over and over, the devs even did some hate parsing on test server (99% of hate is based on dps) and it didn't change when going live.

Paladins like DK are good soloer, because they can heal themself and well their main job is tanking..., but in return they kill really slowly, if you want some serious soloing class there is a lot better, like necro.

And yes exp curve has been changed a lot, you could pretty much lvl to 50 in a week if you are experienced with the game, got cash to buy gear and a group to grind.

You can't change this setting in the vgclient.ini file? (in the bin folder), if there is no option to switch from soft to hard can try turning off sound totally will allow you to log in, or else you can try to just delete the bin folder and redownload it, it isn't a big download.
Check the tech forum on VG forums if nothing work, usually lot of peoples are pretty experienced with stuff like that.

I don't play with sound so not really played with the options.

Yeah turning off sound completely fixed the problem, but as soon as I put it back to hardware the game BSOD. I can't pick either Generic Hardware or Soundblaster Xi-Fi as my source or the game BSODs. Kind of frustrating I guess since I'm using a higher-end sound card..

Edit: Read VG forums, found my fix.

I wish I could figure out how to get their site to let me do the digital download before I actually commit to signing back up for a subscription.

I haven't found a way to download the game without subscribing again, but I haven't looked too much. Even with the launcher, I needed to first log in to actually start downloading stuff.

Anyway I'm back to checking VG, it sure got old graphic wise, was much better looking in my memories, probably because in the meanwhile I've played AoC which, while full of issues, is fucking grandiose looking. Now I need to find some random guy to give me a bit of money to buy some bags. Wish they had chosen the lotr way and gave full bags to everyone on creation, it sure sucks having to buy your bags, and yeah I know wow does that too, and I fucking hate it, it almost feels like they're telling you:"Eh go buy some gold for 10$ to actually enjoy the game from the start". Whoever came up with that idea is a fucking retard, inventory management is NOT fun, at least not at low levels.

The last few times I've tried to restart one of these games I've gotten bored in a couple of days, but it's probably worth taking a flyer for a month.

Started a warrior tonight and got it to 8. Really awesome class, tanks with dual wielding and is pretty nice. I look pretty badass as a halfling with my viking spiked helmet on. If anyone is interested in grouping hit me up on Nekoto any night.
