How has the whole crafting/diplomacy thing turned out?

For the first 2-3 months of release I was pretty much a crafter only(like 30brd and 45 blacksmith) before I quit, and crafting for players is pretty much all I did.

Is that still a viable way to enjoy the game or is it at the point where just about any hardcore player has 1 or two crafting characters leveled for all their needs.

How has the economy held up in general? I had a bit over 100 plat when I quit(spread across all my mules...ugg I hated those limits), is that worth anything anymore?

It looks like they've buffed up quest rewards for heroic/legendary stuff. So things like Hunter's League and the Cragwind weapon quest blow crafted stuff out of the water now. I'm not sure how much work you'd get, but I do still see the occasional player asking for crafters.

I have tried a lot of starting classes and races, and areas belonging to those. Can you point me in the right direction to where the fun is and the hitching doesn't happen? (And believe it or not, I am being serious)

I am not trying to troll, but you know me, I love colorful adjectives and the fun marker doesn't point out on my compass in game. Nor do I see a beacon of light shining down like in SWG telling me where to go for the fun. Here is an example:

I have fun playing Mass Effect because to me it has a rich story line, decent character development, and I feel like I am making an impact on the story. I like the control mechanisms, and how it feels like a third party shooter but if you play it that way you are dead meat. I like the music, the weapons, the variety in where you can travel. I like being able to advance my characters armor, weapons, upgrading those with trinkets... It gives it an MMO feel of continuity. I like how developing charm opens up more conversation options. I like the quaint humor of some of the chatacters I play with in my party or otherwise. I love how every system feels different, like a new world ready to explore. The voice acting is great. I like the many options there are to either go out on your own or follow the main storyline, but even when you do that you have a couple options to follow. It isn't as non linear as Oblivion, but what else besides an MMORPG is. And that is why I find Mass Effect fun.

But yet every back of the box post I read here, always says, "I am having fun". So, tell me why you are having fun, or what is fun about the game, or please, point me in the direction where you think it is fun so I can go there and see if it is fun too. Because as of now, I am about to trademark the word Fun in this thread.
There's no magical fun area in this game, being that this is an MMO it comes from a collection of everything. For instance, last night we did the Hunter's League Chest and Weapon quests. There was 6 of us total, we fought up to the top of where these demon guys were and had to kill named ones to get a rare drop to pop our boss. It was epic on a small-scale way, but I had fun.

After that, which took approximately 3-6 hours, we trodded off to another area to do some quest Spenta told us to. Although he lied to us and the spawn rate was atrocious, we had a blast and again I had fun.

Finally we went into CIS, and we were all evidently tired because we were all bitching, but again we had fun.

If you're playing by yourself and looking for flaws in the game, you aren't going to have fun. When you pop into this game with preconceived notions of "it's bad," then you're not going to have fun. If you're playing by yourself, comparing the game to other games, or starting out over and over.. you won't have fun.

I think the most fun for me is grouping with my friends and doing quests that upgrade us all incredibly (10dps weapon to 42dps weapon in one quest) is the most fun I'm having. Sure you can group up in WoW and do a 1 hour instance and maybe grab some blues. Maybe you'll raid after you've spent hours farming elixirs and what have yous. Meanwhile, in this game, I'm having the best MMO experience that I can remember in a very long time. The guild is flourishing and almost everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.

If you want to have fun in this game, look outside the box. There may be a reason your game is crashing all the time. For me, my soundcard drivers were out of date giving me horrible performance and blue screens. Hitching is an annoyance for sure, but at least for me it only happens in major cities when I first enter them, and they're working on what they tell us to be a great code to fix it. Sure, there's tiny bugs like loot bugging out, mobs doing crazy stuff on pulls, and sometimes falling through the world, but no bug has been so blaring enough for me to get angry at the game.

[/rant, thing, whatever]

For the plats, if it's not on pvp server, yeah that's still worth quite a lot I'm pretty sure. Those "rare" lvl 50 upgrade skill scrolls that drop in the raid zones go for 5-10plats each.

However crafting has taken quite a big nerf like pointed out, due to quest rewards being bumped up. Pretty much for weapons now, you can't really find a crafted weap better than quest stuff, unless you want specific items(for example fist weapons since most quest rewrds are martial swords/staves).

For armor you still can sell most of it, until the highest stuff, which doesn't sell well for the same reasons. But overall you quest rewards on the way to 50 for armor aren't that good compared to UR armor and the qalia bonus for melees and stuff.

So depends on your tradeskill. I'm not sure how are the margins either, since now you can get UR stuff easier, but I think they're still good, it's just that crafted gear isn't the best gear available anymore.

If you locked up 6 times, then your computer sucks. I haven't locked up once since I started playing, and I'm running Vista.

I have more trouble with the fucking grove druids in beranid hills than i do 4 dot mobs. A bit over powered and respawn rate bit much. Otherwise having decent time still enjoying it.

Not nessicarily a downside, to be completely honest.

If you have the robust hardware for it, Vista isn't going to screw you over much.

Just keep in mind Vista is a resource hog+drivers tend to blow for it--so you need roughly 2x the hardware to get the same performance.

Yes, but my point is that I don't lock up at all, so he can't blame that problem solely on the game itself.

Yes the age old argument

I'm not having any problems so it's all your fault.

To be fair, he's the first person I've heard having CTD issues lately. I know I certainly haven't, and no one that's started playing again recently that I've spoken to has either.
