So, yeah. Reinstalluing because after spending 8 hours in the bazaar on FV in EQ--I came to the conclusion I couldn't find a class to play cause the game was just fuckin dead.

So yeah, Trying VG again.

I enjoy healing, I enjoy melee...I hate the damn disgrace they did to the disciple.

I dont mind not healing, as long as the melee class is fun and capable of either extreme utility or good tough mob solos. Melee also isn't a 100% nessecity, if theres another class thats fun as all hell that you think I should give a shot. I more enjoy less played difficult to master classes.

Any suggestions on what class I should go with?

Also, Xeth is the server, right? That guild from a few pages back still accepting competent players?

The community is just fine. I was in the beta as well and the in game attitude is much better now, not nearly as cynical and very welcoming.

If you want to bang your head against the wall try a few PUG's in WoW. Especially at lower levels. Vanguard community is mostly very mature and I've been in nothing but PUGs the past week and every single one of them was not only competent it excelled. Global channels are mostly excellent as well considering how shitty the OOC could be in EQ at times the Vanguard globals are awesome. Lots of noobs asking questions and those questions getting answered. Lots of people coming back to try things and for the most part people seem to be having fun.

I also have 10 buddy key codes for Vanguard (trials) still. I dont know if you can download the software though--but if you can get a copy of the software (and only if you can get a copy--I don't want to pass out the friend code for it not be used) I'll be more than happy to pass out the codes

I played during beta...I played at release...i quit playing, then tried it again after they gave me free time to play again...

I think the community and game suck from what the original goal used to be.

Thus, that makes me your counter, so your "fun" is nullified.

What disgrace to the disciple? I've found it fun when I tried it. In the "hard" classes I'd say Disc, Blood mage and Psionicist, and probably any of the tanks in a group setup but not sure.

When they nerfed their crit rate (a MUCH needed nerf, imho) they crippled their healing too. They used to be able to sustain themselves against a 2 or 3 dot with endurance healing ALONE..Last time I played I needed to keep endurance healing up as much as possible while casting 2-3 energy heals a fight as well..Which isn't so bad, really, since they can simply jin it back, but it was still annoying. I played the disicple for their endurance healing, because a disciple was designed to be able to keep a tank up with little energy healing on fairly easy mobs...Thats not how it turned out. they REALLY cut endurance healing, and its not like there was many options..had they cut the wind attack+healing chain (which is really underpowered considering it takes 20-30 seconds to get off), but added a couple of heals to other melee attacks, I'd of been estactic--Forcing us to dump endurance into healing instead of using it for dps, or choosing to dps and ignore endurance healing somewhat.

But thats not what they did.

If you want to heal and melee I'd suggest Disc or Cleric really. Never played a Shaman though, so not sure how they work. Got my Blood Mage up to 10 now and absolutely loving the class.

We're on Xeth now. Me (Kishin) and another from this thread (Devicious) are playing as Blood Mage and Ranger respectively and we'd definitely love to have another player with us. You can play whatever you want to.

BWP, when was the last time you played as your disciple? Disciples are solid healers now. They un-nerfed them a lot. The main issue with disciples these days isn't whether they heal well compared to the other healing classes (they heal very well) it's that their buffs suck in comparison to the other healers. That being said Disciples, like any healer, have no problem finding a raiding guild if that's what they want.

Yeah, actually I just did KE the other night with a Disc as the groups only healer and it was actually better than the other healers that I had before. Not a bad class at all. Didn't really notice about the buffs since I had about 6,000 on my screen.

Okay, logged in, and got a VERY weird graphical bug--some of my UI isn't visible except for text/buttons. Very annoying.

Got that fixed--Logged on my disciple to my surprise; I have stances and endowment of life doesn't blow anymore!

Back a few months ago they (in my opinion) completely fucked up the ranger class. For those of you who do not follow, they made all the ranged attacks use energy instead of endurance. The outcome from that as I understand it resulted in specialization.. melee oriented or more energy build for the solo/kiting player.

After many attempts to get back into it and get my ranger the last two levels he needs to hit 50 I realized that I couldn't live with the changes. The way I used to play him just doesn't work anymore and I cant find anything I'm happy with.

Is there any change or hope for the situation I am in?

Without sounding sarcastic, because it is not the intent, the changes needed to happen. Seriously rangers had a bit to much dps in the way the old system was. Im not sure I understand your issue, I have a lot of high level ranger friends and as far as non raiding goes, you open up with bow (which is still insane dmg btw) and melee when it gets to you.

If you are raiding this should work even better as you dont have to melee if you so choose. There isnt a huge mana issue or end issue unless you using very subpar gear. I have heard nothing but positive things from my high level ranger friends and I have a ranger alt myself, they are a very solid dps class.

Not a ranger but the problem, IIRC, is that melee rangers are great and ranged rangers not so much. I've got no insight and haven't talked to the ranger class lead about it (so take this with four or five grains of salt) but from what I've heard there is or at least was some internal SOE discussion about ways to make ranged rangers more viable vis-a-vis melee rangers (and as noted the difference is mainly in the gear you wear AFAIK). Will SOE actually do anything? Got me -- but apparently they are aware of it. And will rangers finally get real tracking? got me too -- but they keep saying maybe. Post on the SOE boards and mabye Silius will respond.
