Got an email from Sony today opening up my old account for a month, Sept 18th to October 18th for free. It also offers links to a 14 day free trial but I couldn't work out if that was just for the new Trial island or not.

I'll set it downloading and have a look, I'm casually playing EQ2 at the moment and having something else to tinker with would be nice.

If you're at all interested in playing at anything more than a casual rate, I would look elsewhere.

Raid content comes out at a rate that makes Blizz look like cocaine addict workaholics. The devs flat out lie to the community if they think it'll make people take nerfs/encounter changes better. All but 1-2 encounters IN THE ENTIRE GAME are tank and spank, and they're actively changing the more complex encounters back to tank and spank. Players who have tested the encounters coming down the pipeline may or may not have confirmed that those encounters are ALSO tank and spank, which is apparently all the devs know how to do with how messy the coding is.

My guild is still recruiting, but I won't lie to you. This game is a turd right now, and most of us would quit tomorrow if we could convince our respective guilds to all move to the same game. I'm still trying to convince my guild to go to WoW.

All this hate still? Fuck get over it play it or don't. If you haven't played it yet or in 6 months+ I suggest you get the trial and roll a bloodmage/bard/Psi/disc. Everyclass is pretty interesting but those are the classes that are a blast to play.

As opposed to a game where the crafting was so out of control that for the entire time I played the game, crafted gear was better at every level than items received through adventuring? Even in WoW you actually have to pretend to play the game in order to get gear. VG's "lol I just bought a full set of armor without having ever set foot in a dungeon" was just a joke.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed certain parts of the game, but the idea that you can buy items from the broker that are better than dungeon drops is just ridiculous. Risk vs. Reward much?

WoW raids are significantly more challenging. I've done every single fight in VG, and, imo, there really is not a fight that comes close to even the complexity of Gruul. Naxx in WOTLK would be a significant upgrade in challenge for us. There just are not many execution fights.

The vast majority of fights rely on people not knowing the strat and having to develop one. For example, a few guilds, upon quitting, posted the strat to about 5/6 of the fights in the game. Now, every retard in the game is sitting at Kotasoth or in Vault wing. There just is no challenge.

VG is easymode, not WoW. WoW raiding is many times more difficult, unless you count dealing with intentionally bugged abilities (to block progression) as difficulty.

and, like I said, every encounter is tank and spank. The sad thing is, there was a nice timed jousting fight in Kotasoth. It wasn't complex, but it wasn't pure tank and spank. and the devs actually took it out, and now you don't joust. it's tank and spank again. and then the devs lied to us and said that Kota's AE was always meant to go through walls, even though they knew guilds were killing it that way for about 6+ months. It's an EQ1-style situation, except the raid community has open contempt for the dev team. It's a mess.
