| I'm playing a warrior on Seradon. In a casual/raid guild, doing APW 2, 3 nights a week and overland mobs. The main reason I come back to the game is because it reminds me of early EQ - with all of the bugs, difficulty, and without the fresh - but a few real life friends play, so I'm in. Fuck it. Uno ~

+14 Internets | Hmm they sure boosted some classes. I tried a disciple today cause I was like bored and stuff, and it was one of the class I always wanted to try. I got some group quests in some underground mossy crap, went down there, and was owning 3dots without breaking a sweat, and even killed 2 4dots, it was pretty awesome. The class design is so good it hurts seeing no one could make something like this. A class that can heal from actually beating the shit out of stuff? You get like, the jin concept(build points with endurance moves, then use the points to get free moves) of monks and a combo system(only have one currently, but if I use 3moves in succession, I get a free heal). What really owns is how I get endurance heals(melee attack heals), mana heals(standard 1.5s cast heals) and jin heals. How come no other of these new mmo can come up with healing classes that are not retarded and have to choose between healing and combat. It's nice to have some(clerics/shamans in VG), but damn why not have some TRUE hybrids such as disciple and blood mage, that can damage and heal at the same time(and not one after the other). Between this and the fucking CAST WHILE MOVING, Vanguard is still way ahead of "next gen" shit in terms of mechanics. I don't get why devs still insist on using old and restrictive mechanics. |

And theres a ton of healers in eq2 also. Most groups I've been in has had 2, but that might be different at max lvl(had to quit at 64 due to connection issues). Can understand the ton of furies but not sure why alot of people were playing clerics also. | |

| Any shaman worth a damn can kill the best geared/played cleric in PvP, unfortunately. But yeah, in PvE we're imba.

| You are not damn right | Is there only like one server or something? A few people now have said "i'm playing on **** if someone wants to msg me" Or is there just a server everyone here plays on? What would be a good tank class to play that doesn't have some retarded force click mechanic - the judgement system of WoW aggravated me so much. Also, the disciple was too much clicking around for me too in vanguard. I played a death knight at release, and it was ok - but tank repair costs pissed me off ,and the exp was sooooooooooooooo slow.

| DK are awesome tanks, and can solo quite well (AE Drains FTW). But with End regen nerfed, they arent "god mode" anymore, but still remain very powerfull. I played Sorcerer & Bard (both 50 fully armored & ready to APW). Bard was totally awesome (best class in MMO ever). Sorcerer were slowly nerfed into oblivion and made useless in APW. I quit around january because i didnt see the game going anywhere. APW lacked "epicness" and i didnt see VG offering anything exept "lame faction grinds" like ToT. I played VG to find again that "guk/sebilis" sebilis. ToT/RI barely made it past "acceptable". |

+14 Internets | Well every class is pretty much "forced click", cause if you don't do shit you're not getting anywhere, and there's always a better dps rotation that involves pressing these keys in a certain order to maximize efficiency. But well I can see your point with disc, it somewhat feels like playing my resto druid on wow, only that instead of having 2keys, I actually have like 10 to press. That or LoTRO classes, damn them I have like 20keybindings per char and use them all cause everything is useful. To me though, that's a positive opint, spamming only a few keys bore me very fast, which is why I don't play dps classes much anymore. Anyway for tank classes, there's only 3. One can't solo very well(warrior), they're at the bottom of the soloability scale, along with rogues and monks(you can notice a pattern here, aka melee classes with no way to heal themselves). So if you don't want slow xp, you probably either want a paladin or a DK. DKs are cool, 2h tanking, drains, shadowstep positional stuff, dread aura, fear/dot spells so you can solo every 5dot fuckhead you find, really fun. Paladins are well, the usual shit, 1h+shield, holy spells, more holy spells, anti undead spells, healing spells and holy spells. They do very good dps though, since they're bugged(or not, hard to tell, but way overpowered at low level and relativeley balanced at higher). All 3 tanks are supposedly viable, at least that's what I read, so it's a matter of what you prefer in playstyle/looks and also race choices(you can only be a paladin if you choose Raki for example, but damn a Raki tanking shit is awesome). |

+7 Internets | At least middle/late 2007 I could solo on my bard... albeit slow as fuck. Now if I wanted to bow kite something to death I could solo better but that was pretty wack as a bard to me. My bard is 30ish with full CIS armor, weapon, and Kronus 1H quest weapon as far as gear goes and those were my results. I'd hope its better now but I haven't tried since I started playing again, I'm afeared. Last edited by Guzrog : 04-02-2008 at 08:38 AM. |

| Maybe I missed it... Maybe I'm just not seeing it on the Vanguard website, but does this game STILL not have a free 10 day or 2 week free trial? I think they have "buddy" passes or keys for those who actually purchased the game but... You have to have a chimp running your marketing strategy if you are dying to increase subscriptions and the only way to do that is by buying the full game. I haven't tried it and I sure as hell am not going to buy it without trying it first.
