As long as the Minigames have a halfdecent system it isnt that bad. Problem with WoW was that a) time investment was more important than winning and that b) alterac removed any kind of skill requirement.
If they take a look at guildwars and keep matching winning teams vs each other (kinda tournament style, imagine it like a pyramid. You win and then you are matched against another team that won. Then against another team with 2 wins. And so on) and give more points for streaks. See here: Fame - Guild Wars Wiki (GWW)

However I also hope that open pvp will be more or equal important than "minigames".

Pardon my late entry into this thread. I have only spot read the posts here.

Having happened on the BetaLeaks site and reading some of their forum threads, AoC appears to be shaping up as a pretty good game. I am not seeing much in the way of negativity that most MMOs receive in their prelaunch stages.

All the rating will do is slow down some kids from buying it. It's not gong to prevent most from finding the game, if it does this game will already be half screwed in the subscription department. Am I the only one that isn't getting this game for the PVP? I have a feeling PVP is going to be frustrating as all hell for a while and looking forward to the PvE mainly.

I have absolutely zero interest in PvP. And the ONLY complaining I see revolves around PvP. Either PvE is flawless or the people writing these beta reviews aren't into that.

Yeah, I am going to avoid the PvP servers like the plague. It's going to be awful, especially with overarching rewards for ganking. I'll be damned if I am going to get ganked half dead while fighting a mob so someone else can get PvP experience to put towards a siege battle.

haha well if they play on a PvP server and bitch that is one thing. I just seriously doubt casters are going to stand a chance against melee. Especially since casters aren't getting finishing moves and all that. I imagine 4-6months after release things will get a little more balanced for casters.

That said I am still rolling a healer...Dark Templar does look awesome though.

PVE is far, far from flawless. 1-20 is not bad.

People are talking about PVP because so many have been in the PVP weekend betas, wheras not as many were in General Beta before.
