closed beta doesnt end when open starts so closed will still be using servers and i am guessing they will use the US servers for the US open beta.

This is why; closed beta will run concurrently. They announced they were doing this a few days ago.

WoW numbers are similar for EU and US. Funcom is a European company and the game is fairly heavily promoted over here. I would guess numbers across the pond will see more parity than Sony games.

PLEASE let me avoid the french servers. AC2 pvp server was populated by the french hardcore and it sucked.

the game is going to be region-locked AFAIK and will have servers on east coast US and europe, last I heard.

Also they said they were going to talk about spellweaving today, not sure if that means on IGN or what but if anyone sees it be sure to drop a link.

IGN: Age of Conan's Spellweaving Revealed

Very... not what I was expecting.

Here's a youtube video of some developers discussing spellweaving, think it's only like 3 days old so should be pretty new...

What exactly where you expecting, to shoot fireballs from your eyes and lightning bolts out your arse?

I dig the level of risk vs. reward that they mention, but I need to see it in action to be a believer. All in all, it sounds fun and dynamic.

I guess I was expecting something a little .. more. 25% more damage and some AE effects with a bunch of negative side effects?

Sounds like it may be useful when you are behind the walls of your keep, attacking large groups of attackers but for small scale PvP or soloing the last thing I want to do is stand there and stack vulnerabilities on myself so I can get insta-gibbed by a melee.

I thought Spellweaving was going to be the answer to melee combos but it looks like for the most part melees will continue to rule.

I see you all chattering about refreshing FilePlanet for beta keys. Did I miss something here? I have the uber FilePlanet subscription and when I signed up for AoC beta, it had a beta key listed right there (and I got one e-mailed as well). The key was some 14-digit number/letter combo. I didn't have to wait for anything or refresh anything.

I also ordered the AoC Collector's Edition from Amazon.com (along with the first Conan book, which I lost about 35 years ago). From what I read on various forums, it's getting hard to find, so you might want to snag one ASAP.

Now, off to cancel WoW (boring), LotRO (BORING), and EQ (REALLY FUCKING BORING!)...

For the first 2-3 days they were running out in minutes. Now they are up for hours. The initial demand for them is simply gone since the people who wanted it most got them already.

Hrmm, I wonder if I read the following wrong then?? I took it to mean that you would get a maximum 25% damage increase for EACH stage, totalling 150% damage increase.

Quote:
The longer you manage to keep spellweaving active, though, the more powerful you become. After the state is enabled, spellweaving progresses through six stages, with transition between stages occurring around every ten seconds and occasionally when an offensive spell is cast. Each stage increases a passive spell damage buff, which will max out at around 25 percent, says Funcom's senior systems designer Andrew Griffin.
I took the rest of the article to mean that each spell would have different effects depending upon the stage which would yield such things like a chance for AE, critical damage/chance increased, greater healing, etc.

I could be wrong though.

I've yet to see any last for more than 30 minutes, and most are out within 10 minutes. I helped several friends get keys today, and several missed out by being a few minutes late.

They were up for like 8 hours yesterday, or it maybe ran out just before the next batch and the supply refreshed. I got another one last night several hours after I read they were available. Maybe everyone was just busy watching the 7th round of the NFL draft!

And Psykel I think you read it wrong. It says it maxes out at 25%.. which to me means it umm, maxes out at 25%. Plus you have a 'chance' at effects both positive and negative when increasing stages.

Hm, odd. I grabbed a key during the final batch last night, and remember seeing it down for most of the day. Oh well.
