General rule of in-store MMO preorder bonuses:

1) Pay absolutely no attention to what the store told you.

2) When you did your in-store preorder, if you walked out of the store with an account key that you can enter at some point in the future to redeem for the preorder bonuses, stop here. You're all right.

3) If you did not, go get your preorder money back. There is a very low chance that you are in the correct preorder program. Find a way to either get a key or purchase direct.

Reasoning:

Stores are graded based on the # of preorders they sell. Whether or not you actually get the developer/publisher incentive that drove your preorder isn't a point of concern for them.

Bonus round:

If faced with sufficient complaints of "missing preorder items," they will make something up in a sympathetic statement such as: "Sorry, the publisher didn't give us enough keys. You'll have to take it up with them," and move on to pushing their next preorder program.

You sure about that? Hrmm, I've pre-ordered AoC and I've not gotten a key of any sort. Have you? Has anyone?

Ive pre-ordered the CE from gamespot that comes with the 3 day head start (may 17th) and the in game mount/cloak/bag and i did not receive any key. From what i have read, you should receive it with the access to the game download on the 17th.

If I read correctly, the download actually starts on the 14th for the head start on the 17yh and costs an additional 5 dollars? I'll admit, if aoc ends up winning out for me (between it and war... more of a battle of attrition than anything) then 3 days for 5 bucks doesn't seem too bad.

You do get the mount and bag with in store preorder. You are also supposed to get an Art Book. My local Gamestop has a nice promotional display in store listing all of the preorder bonuses. The clerk, who I know very well, says they have not received any preorder materials to hand out (eg... codes, artbook) but that they would be reserved for the preorder customers.

That said, at some point there will be a mass of threads stating people are getting a hold of this stuff, and when that happens, get your arse to the store. I have been burned too many times on not getting preorder bonuses.

Lastly, someone stated earlier that they wish someone would post something positive about AoC. Let's just say that there are people who very much value their Beta slots that are chicken shit to say anything publicly, even when it might be very complimentary.

lol more like 4 gigs of ram. I dont think the game could even run at the lowest res with 1 gig.

I'd recommend 4 gigs of ram, a nice video card more ram the better. Art is huge in this game and yes the game seems good from what I have personally seen. We shall see!

While 4 gigs would definitely be great to have, as it is in nearly every game, 2 gigs will get you by fine. That's what I'm running with. Just wish I had the money to upgrade my computer, my shit is so old.

Yep... the download starts on the 14th which gives people a chance to have the game installed and ready to go on the 17th (if we don't encounter any major server issues from FC).

The combat animations look pretty damn good. That spinning slash/decapitation one toward the end and the stab in the neck, twist the blade, then chop the head off animations looked awesome. So to attack you click the arrows or the corresponding # on the keyboard? Is that how it works?
