I am having a hard time deciding whether to preorder this or not.

Currently I have active WoW and LOTRO subs.

The technical beta experience has been sort of meh...

I didn't think pre-order keys were active until May 2nd (meaning you Funcom's registration page will not recognize the key before that date.)

Let me rephrase: 1 PVP win = X. 1 PVP death = -X*2.75. However, by the nature of PvP... for each PvP win, there IS a PvP death.

Pray tell, where do the xp come from? Since, at each fight about 2 fight worth's of XP are removed from the system? (unless we're speaking of the same XP as PvE, but I didn't get this)

Its perfect. PvP-Exp in AoC is a thing if beauty.
1 vs 2.75 means that not everybody will have it at some point. Its only for those that make 3+ kills before they die. Far better than WAR for example.

Sounds like a nice way to reduce "zerging" and try to actually put some tactics and skills into play in PvP.

I would assume you cant have negative pvp levels, seems like an interesting system.

Now I am still wondering if playing on a FFA PvP server is better than a PvE server where the PvP is concentrated in the border kingdoms.

You and your buddies against the server, no horde/alliance stuff, the grieving will be outstanding .

so to get over lvl 1 pvp you need over a 2.75 k/d ratio then? And does dying in pvp make you lose both regular pve xp and pvp xp?

No, just PvP exp and yes. You will need 3 kills for every 1 death to even inch forward in PvP levels.

I'm not sure how this will work in groups. Do you split the gained exp but lose individual exp? So if you are in a group of three is it 9 kills per 1 death?
