You need the new client to play the Open Beta. This was explained on the beta forums already. It was the same deal with the PvP weekend.

You *can* make it work apparently if you edit some files and point it at the right servers but I cannot tell you how it is done.

I may be wrong though because supposedly Fileplanet Keys/beta has their own server. I would hope its the all the same client though.

Now, care to make some points or would you rather throw up some more generalizations of how this game that has a lot of good things going for it is going to release as bad as Vanguard, which really makes you lose credibility with those of us who tested both and can see the night and day differences.

I share the same sentiments that Gecko has regarding the game in that I too found it to be fun, playable, and despite some of the negative remarks on balalnce, features, and performance, I had a good time with it.

Destiny Quests:

Destiny Healer:
* The Awakening II: It should be easier to survive the Awakening II quest as a priest- Killing the Red Hand in the Underhalls when defending the villagers should properly resolve the quest.
* The Awakening II: The Red Hand Sergeant will no longer spawn multiple times.

Destiny Soldier
* The Awakening I: The community of the Harbor Captain has been changed back from Tortage Harbor Guards to Tortage Quest mobs.
* The Awakening I: Valeria now hates Tortage Harbor Guards and Stygian Military.
* The Awakening I: Valeria will correctly attack the guards in "The Plague" but will not attack the Captain, as designed.

The End Battle
* Kalanthes should no longer speak about Casilda after the End Battle.

Aquilonia
* All level 50 Destiny Glue quests should appear as the appropriate level in your quest journal.

Cimmeria
* All level 50 Destiny Glue quests should appear as the appropriate level in your quest journal.

Stygia
* All level 50 Destiny Glue quests should appear as the appropriate level in your quest journal.

General Quests:
* Quest Rewards for Kheshatta have been updated.

General:
* Certain NPC combos won't permanently (or until you zone) debuff your weapon DPS anymore.

World Design:
* There should no longer be strange white walls in the basement of the Tesso Warehouse- the Smuggler Route.
* Pets can now enter the Mitra Temple outseide Tortage City.
* Conall's Valley has received a number of small world design tweaks.
* White Sands Isle has received a number of small world design tweaks.

NPCs:
* Scroll Vendors will no longer try to spawn in the Thirsty Dog Inn.
* Removed some non-chat stockphrases that didn't fit all situations for Casilda.

Player Character:
* The spell Dark Meditation gained from the general mage feat of the same name will now be possible to cast when you have the feat.
* The proc from the mage general feat Specter Chant will now heal mana like the feat says, not health.
* Mage general feat Tome of Erlik now also works if you have three points invested.
* Mage general feat Tome of Erlik now gives the intended damage increase, instead of 1% of the intended increase.

Barbarian
* Gushing Wounds should now only have one debuff icon
* Gushing Wounds should now also affect Cyclone of Steel I
* Cyclone of Razors should now also affect Cyclone of Steel I
* Boiling Blood should now properly upgrade all versions of Savage Rage
* Shrapnel should now affect Break Armor I
* Lure effect should now have an icon

Conqueror
* The conqueror abilities Incite the Ranks, Fire Weave, Marshal the Ranks, To the Death, Shield of Retribution, Inspire the Ranks, Vitalize the Ranks and Hoarfrost will now correctly give the buff of the correct rank depending on the level of the caster, instead of always giving rank 1 buff.
* The Conqueror ability Marshal the Ranks will now be trained at level 10.
* The debuff effect from the conqueror combos Breach I-IV have been adjusted to the correct progression.
* The Feat combo "Whirlwind" should now have an appropriate icon.
* The Feat combo "Flashing Defense" should now have an appropriate icon.

Demonologist
* Demonologist head armors now show with correctly brushed hair

Guardian
* Guardian combo Dulling Blow II no longer applies two damage debuffs to the target.
* Guardian combo Dulling Blow I has had its damage debuff effect significantly lowered.
* The Guardian combo Guard I should no longer be superior to higher ranks of the combo.
* Redoubt should now function with more than one feat point invested in the feat.
* Disarming Aggression should now properly buff every rank of the affected combos.
* It should now be clear that placing further ranks in the Skewer feat improves the combo of the same name.
* The recast timer on Intervene has been increased to 2 minutes, and its duration reduced to 1 minute.
* Bloody Vengeance should now work properly.
* Readiness should now improve all ranks of the combos affected.

Herald of Xotli
* The mage general feat Blood Hunger now also decreases the cooldown of the Herald combo I Eat Your Heart.



Ranger
* Penetration Rating on Piercing Shot and Absolute Precision should now be more balanced.
* Splintering Puncture's area of effect should increase when training more than one point in the feat.
* Stacking order on Pin Down effects should be correct; lower versions will no longer cancel higher ones.

Tempest of Set
* Pillar Lightning should now correctly increase the radius of the Lightning Strike area of effect.
* Rousing Shock should now properly affect members of the Tempest's group.
* Coalesce Ether now has the correct icon.
* Set's Storm now reduces the casting time and cooldown of Storm Field by the correct amount.
* Set's Brutality now as the proper effect and description.
* Titanic Storm should now increase the range of Storm Field by the proper amount.
* Casting Life of Set with The Growing Storm active should now properly consume the buff.
* The Lightning Cast buff should now be properly consumed by Healing Lotus casts.
* The Storm Blood feat now grants the proper spell.
* Serpent Transmutation should now grant the proper spell.

Client/Server
* A number of server crashes have been resolved.

Listen, I respect anyone who thinks the game isn't fun, or has issues that will prevent them from buying it on release. It certainly has plenty of problems.

The problem is the game to me is fun. It also is not nearly as bad as you keep saying. You keep referencing blogs, sites, and others slamming the game and have admitted you haven't been able to play the tech beta much. I'd love to here why you so the need to attack a game you don't know much about. It's like you have an agenda here.

In the Vanguard pre-release, everyone was saying how bad the game was and the fact it did not work properly at all. Also, most of us beta testers would not dream of buying or intending to buy Vanguard because it was just that bad. You are talking about buying this game, after nonstop posts of how horrid it is. Huh?

This thread is pretty much populated by Jayrebb and you repeating many times how this game is Vanguard, and many of us who actually play the game saying it isn't.

Now, I understand if you are a WOW fanbois, hate funcom due to their terrible AO release, or some other reason but your posts here are more hyperbole than actual relevent discussions, and that's a shame. I hope others actually read about the game and beta test it and ignore your points which seem to be more of a catalog of anti AOC posts than any actual discourse.

I am just presenting an opposing viewpoint to 'everything is rosey, all games have issues, AoC will be great'. There must be balance in the force. You also are using your own hyperbole in describing how I feel about the game. I never said it was horrid. I said it has issues. Issues that could create a very poor launch. The game can actually be fun and still have issues. The core gameplay from a 3rd person Hack and Slash is indeed fun.. but the scope of the game calls for it to be much more than that and that is where the problems may lie.

You've yet to give anything concrete other than 'it's not that bad, I find it fun' so you are hardly in a position to call me out on anything. If you want to respect the NDA with just 3 weeks to launch than that's fine. Maybe if they drop it before release you can enlighten us all with specifics.

And that's enough tit for tat.
