I was happy with my performance, not complaining. I'm tempted to get a 6400+ because I have the itch and it "MAY" improve my 8800 gtx performance. Doubt I will though, damn itch.
Exact same board I use, well its not bottle necking your card speeds that for sure. More then likely its just the game.

You have to be shitting me. I realize most of us here are gamer geeks and have good PC rigs, but you must know that well under 10% of the MMO gamer population has more then 2 GB of RAM. All of this performance stuff above is just insane. I can foresee a solid 80%+ of AoC's initial subscribers not having a PC anything *CLOSE* to those specs above, and canceling after their first week with sub-10 FPS.

After they get done removing that "stealth" bullshit from the game (don't look to the PvP kiddies as any sort of long-term sub base, FunCom), nerf melee into the ground (at least as compared to casters), and get rid of the fucking stupid, constant loading screens, they need to get this game running on "average" PC rigs, not the mega-PC shit that seems "required" by many recent commentaries here.

you call more than 2gig ram mega? I'd say 2gigs is the minimum that anybody I know that I game with has in their rig. At least any serious gamers. I know some that have 8gigs. We are in an entire new age of gaming. Maybe you just fell behind somewhere and didn't realize it.

ram has been so cheap in the last few years i dont think theres many people who have bought pcs that didnt come with 2 gigs, unless they are trying to play on a laptop.

Its the processor and gfx card reqs that are gonna fuck them since those are still relatively new/expensive... not many people have a core2 yet or a 8800.

You're probably never going to have a game that looks good and runs on less than 2GB of ram anymore... it's just not happening with today's demand for graphics.

Agreed. But even the price of the processors and GFX cards have dropped considerably. But the issue people are experiencing in this case don't have as much to do with the GFX card as much as it does with memory. The only GFX card issues are for people running in SLi. And that is a memory allocation issue. You honestly do not need a monster machine to play this game.

I'm sorry, but people are vastly overestimating the power of the average rig. Yes, all us gamers know other gamers and build lean machines but the average gamer that you don't associate with isn't running anything close to a C2D and an 8800 with 2GB+ of RAM.

See, that new age of gaming will be lucky to get 500k subs. While the old age of gaming will retain the majority of its 10 million players...

Sorry, but I have been running more than 2 gigs for a few years now. Granted at first it was more expensive. But you can get 2 gigs of ram now, GOOD ram at that, for $50 now. So you are telling me people aren't willing to put out $50 to play a game but they are willing to spend $100's on buying gold in games like WoW?

Most people barely know what RAM is, much less how much they have and where it even goes.

First, as already pointed out, the issue is not just RAM. But more importantly, yes, I truly believe that the vast majority of the millions of WoW players are incapable, let alone willing, to upgrade their RAM.

Grumpy was 100% right, you are 100% wrong. Most people do not have systems like that. They will buy the game and quit after the free month.

Just because you and your loser buddies spend your entire paychecks on computer parts doesn't mean other people do.

Entire paychecks? I'm sorry that you can't afford $50 for ram and maybe $200 for an 8800 GT GFX card but you can afford to pay $15/month to play a game and pay anywhere from $40 to $100 to purchase new games. Let's keep buying better/more advanced games and not upgrade/maintain the system we are playing on. "Why can't I play this PS3 game on my PS2...?" Please.

I have a PC that was absolutely top of the line 10 months ago. Game ran like shit on high settings. On low settings it looked like a 6 year old drew the textures in MS Paint. Dunno what kind of dream machine this game takes, but when I just spent $1800 10 months ago I don't feel like I should have to upgrade again for this game.

the gfx and cpu arguements are completely valid but you need to look at this from the market pov.. and in terms of desktop pcs 2 gigs of ram has been standard for awhile now.. prolly 3 years or so, mostly because its been a cheap way to pad the specs of a pc for awhile... and the OEMs have all been doing it... how many super awesome bonus deals have we seen from dell with a free 2gig upgrade.. tons because it costs them like 20 bucks extra and sells lots of pcs.

Now if the game cant run semi decently with gfx turned down on a pc with a 6800 nvidia and a amd 2400 xp or whatever they were called it might be in trouble with the non gamer rig people
