| Are there built in immunities for the various CC? I thought I saw a 1-minute shield against being knocked down after I was knocked down. Is there similar shit for fear, root, charm, stun, snare, etc? |

+33 Internets | Why is Dark Templar terrible? First, let me say the class needs to be “reinvented.” I’ll elaborate on that further, but let’s touch on the current pain points first. Disclaimer: I'm in my mid 30's as of today, and I have to work all week, but am off next week. The class may get massively better shortly. I can't predict how things will play out in the end, but allow me to elaborate on my frustrations thus far, particularly PVP. Crowd Control: The class has NO CC at this level. Every other class can stun, knock back, snare or root by now. They try to fix this with features. Let’s have a look. Dark Burden. The Dark Templar get’s a snare at lvl 30 called Dark Burden. A combination of the range being too small, cast time too long, and effect being so short contributes to an almost totally worthless spell. By the time you get it off, the person is too far away to do anything to. The only way this spell works is if you charge them, get a lucky double-forward-tap stun on them, then cast it and hope you can kill them within the next nanosecond. To further compound this, DT’s can’t use bows which are useful for slowing people who are running away. Fix: Make Dark Burden long range, instant cast, long effect time and wrap that up with a shorter recast time with feats. Add Bow’s or x-bow to DT at lvl 20. I will update with information on our 2 Feat based stuns once I’m high enough level, as well as the AOE fear (at 70), but keep in mind, you can’t get both of these. DPS: There’s no such thing on this class at the moment. Our Priests hit harder and heal better. Fix: Add 2 handers, higher damage combos. Class is in dire need of DPS output. PVE: "Taunt" combos are a JOKE, self healing abilities are the punch line. How I would “Reinvent’ the class. Skills: Add 2 hand weapons, Bows at lvl 20. Feats: DT feats are currently a huge mess with no discernible order. “DPS” and tanking talents are puzzlingly scattered throughout the map. There needs to be a dedicated line of Feats for the following play styles: DPS, Tanking/survival, Draining/buffing. With CC and Manaburning, sprinkled in for good measure. Depravity. Depravity becomes the “damage output + disablement” tree. This includes damage against mana. If you want to kill people with a 2 hander, this is your line. Focuses heavily on increasing your damage output via any means. This includes: Unholy damage (currently scattered), wounds, enhancing all skills and spells that are DPS oriented, the “mana burning” set of feats, sadism, etc. Desecration. Desecration becomes the “survivability + group healing/buffing/draining tree.” If you want to either play a tank or a group healer/buffer/regener this line is for you. Focuses on decreasing your incoming damage on one side, and + healing/stam/mana drains for your group on the other (talisman mastery too!) Additional Spells: I’d add “Life Tap” ala Everquest. DD and DOT versions. Bone Armor Feats for Desecration tanking line. Will be plenty of space after clearing out the unholy damage weapon stuff.

| It's probably buried in one of these threads, but is this available to buy via download anywhere. I took a minute with google and their homepage and didn't see anything.

| Dark Templar SO needs a ranged lifetap. I mean, come on, it's like the quintessential shadowknight class aside from that. Agreed re: the CC stuff as well, although at 80 you do get a decent amount through feats... not enough though. |

| For those on the fence of buying the game, if paying $50 isn't a lot to you then its worth buying. IMO its worth playing the game now rather than "waiting" for it to be fixed. The fun of watching people cry in chat, of nobody really knowing any quests (or anything really), exploring a world together with others for the first time, and the number of exploits you can use to your advantage make it fun now. In 3-6 months, after a lot of people have gotten bored of the game and left, and Funcom have polished it and fixed stuff, it just won't be as much fun. Also meta-game wise, I think having a character on deathwhisper (the highest amount of emo server) is a must. Just sitting around level 80 reading chat will be fun. Secondly, unless your in one of the top 5 Deathwhisper guilds, you should have a character on a low-pop PVE or PVP server, just because it'll be a good way to experience stuff like sieges, since on deathwhisper the existence of a limited number of towns means 70%+ of the pop will not get a shot at it. Just alternate between the two, money or resources really don't mean much in AoC so there isn't a need to have an alt to farm endlessly for you (your main can level up all the gathering profs). I have to say though being some sort of peon farming wood/stone/leather/etc to build up a keep is very... anti-climactic. lol |

| For leveling advice, here's what I did after Tortage. First I did all of the Khemi + Province quests. then switched to Connell's Valley then back to Province then finish up the Valley, now I'm doing a few of the last quests in Wildlands. This includes all the group quests and instance quests. Kill experience is pretty good. One key is to get the quests that have you go to some of the farming zones (guild city areas). You get 10k exp a pop just for wandering out there, and each zone usually has 3 of them. That got me up to 39. |

+33 Internets | Anyways, There is absolutely 0 way in hell this class is going to metamorph into something an educated group would take for DPS over just about any other class, probably including a guardian.

| At 20 I think it was you get a aoe stun and thru feats you can get a skill that breaks roots. Other then that I think its vll 30 + till you get a snare. Dmg wise depending on how you do your feats you can 2 shot kill some things Ursine Brawl is pretty strong. The class is pretty resiliant though with the hots ticking you can take 3 mobs at a time or chain kill till your blue in the face. |

This takes you to 36easily. At this point, you need around 2-4more levels to start the next big zone, Field of the Dead. You have the choice between grinding, doing the 3rd zone even though everything is grey(which involves a lot of random clicking to find quests) because quest xp is still good, or trying to quest in the few stuff you can do, such as: Wild Borders in Wild Lands(near the southeast, few quests send you there, also a quest giver at entrance), Pyramid in Khopsef Province(not sure how many quest or if it's soloable, only found 2 outside), Sewers stuff in Old Tarantia(2quests, not sure if it's soloable) and probably some crap in Conall's but I haven't gone there yet. This seems to sums up what you can do. Of these, the fastest is probably grinding, and maybe doing the Borders stuff if you haven't since there's actually 5-6quests there. In your case however you probably burned a lot of xp from mobs since you focused on one zone, so you might have to grind more. Move to another zone, spot the quests that are still green(they have the !) and do these, hope there's a few chains in them, or just grind. Depending on your class, grinding can be very fast or decent speed. Questing is usually faster, but when the mobs are grey or close to, they give really terrible xp, which cuts a decent lot out of them. | |

| Im playing a guardian atm, level 14. I dont have any complaints about dps and whatnot, I feel like they are right where they should be as a tank class. Anyone else have some guardian feedback? also is there anyway to map certain attacks to the num pad instead of regular 4-0 keys? would be nice to just have left hand focus on melee hits and combos and use right hand to initiate certain attacks (instead of mousing/left handing the 4+ keys) Last edited by LexarkT11; 05-19-2008 at 03:47 PM.. |
