At least with everybody knowing how to vid-cap and post it on YouTube within a few minutes, hackers using stuff like that above should get nailed nice and fast. If FunCom doesn't ban those fuckers super-fast (especially on PvP servers), there will be much screaming on the forums, hair pulling, and canceling of subscriptions. I'm a bit worried that with the huge pile of other crap they have to finish before release or within a short time thereafter, they won't keep the leash on this crap like they should. I also heard they farmed out the GMs/CS to some other company for the U.S. release, which is a really, really bad sign since these GMs will almost certainly not have any power to insta-ban/suspend obvious hackers/offenders.

I've settled on Tempest of Set, I guess. After really enjoying the PoM, it just won't work into the story of the relatively "evil" RP-PvP guild I've joined. So, I now have a week to write up a character background of a dirty, rotten snake-worshipper (you "lolrp" jerkoffs may now commence with the giggling).

Is the PvE in this game any good, or is it just a way to level up for PvP?

I'm not a big PvP fan.

It's incredibly linear and limited and pretty quick. You aren't going to have a host of alts since you will basically play 95% of the game on the first trip through. But it is pretty fun if you can stomach hitting Q123E + hotkeys for extended periods of time.

97MB patch is now DL'ing if you're in Closed Beta. Gotta get that ToS to 30+ before the real fun begins next week!

The GMs are Funcom employees, there just aren't that many of them. There is 2 levels of ingame CS - GMs (level 100 huge chars) and Followers of Asura, who are volunteers (similar to AO program). FoA can answer questions about the game like "where are the bear asses, how do I do this quest, where do I buy a horse," blah blah blah. They cannot teleport players, fix quests, or anything like that - just answer questions. Only GMs have the god powers of editing players, NPCs, and so on.

So maybe you were thinking of FoA which is indeed farmed out, but its basically wowhead ingame staffed by volunteers. They'll pop petitions first, answer if they can, and move em to GMs if they can't.

btw I didn't have any patch for the closed beta client, got in just fine (I did patch a day or two ago though). Can't really be arsed to play much, since the game is going live in 5 days for pre's. Getting only 90k/s from the pre downloader, 2 more days

Well now, this is interesting. I DL'd the 97MB patch super-fast (like, under a minute) and got in to make a new character on ClosedBeta3. Global Chat was totally dead (very strange), so I checked to see other characters online and noticed that I was all alone on the server. I got all the way to Tortage (level 5) before the "PlayShiftFailed" thing and couldn't zone in. Apparently, the entire character creation and first part of the game up until Tortage is client-side and you don't even need a connection to the server.

Anyways, the CB servers crashed and burned shortly after coming up, I guess.


EDIT: Durr, the 97MB patch was because I'd tried to log into Open Beta earlier in the day. Closed Beta got no patch today. Servers are back up, however (with all the same, glorious bugs).

I was in wild lands and it was doing the same thing. I could see other players, but whatever server handled chat/whois was down apparently

Okay so I'm confused. I've been in open beta via fileplanet. I pre-ordered online via gamestop and recieved an email receipt, but not an email for early access. At what point did you receive info about early access payment?
