| This is kinda old news (I heard it last week) but I didnt see any mention of it here. It seems ranged combat has been revamped on the last patch and is more FPSish. Its getting very good reviews from beta testers. This is heresay so take it for what it is. |

+25% Range +25% Range I have no bloody clue how people clouded that into damage, but the Damage thing has spread far and wide, when it's actually Range.

| Correct. Spellweaving is still in, just being retooled a bit.

| Here is the leak I read, this is a copy and paste of a copy and paste so there might be some broken telephone action going on. quote: Greetings, Well, this is a smaller version and general highlights of major changes/additions in the game. Many good news. First I want to get into ranged combat. So let me get the bad news out of the way first. The bad news about ranged combat (not so bad I guess) is that you can no longer fire your weapon in 3rd person view if you do not have target selected. Now the good stuff. When you are in first person mode, it feels a lot more like actual FPS game. Now you actually have to apply some skill to it (before it was only a hassle) and now you get 25% range bonus when in FPS mode. Perhaps THE BEST news about FPS mode, in my book, is that you now can actually freely shoot at anything that your heart desires. Before this, your projectiles had only two flight paths, straight horizontally in front of you if you do not have a target and 2nd path being towards the target wherever the target might be. Now, just like in FPS games, you can shoot in any direction that you desire, shoot at trees, top of buildings and inn signs or at the rocks on the ground. This added a great feel to ranged combat. Thank you Funcom!!! Oh yeah, it seems like different weapon types have different crosshairs, at least the bow and throwing knives that I tried had different crosshairs. Also, "over-the-shoulder" camera has been added (re-added I might add) to ranged combat, like what we saw in very early ranged combat previews and demonstrations. There are number of GUI changes and quality-of-life features that have made it into AoC. Things like better target window that now reflects difficulty of the mob, which I find pretty handy as I hate looking at mob levels. I wish they would now remove mob levels from showing, but that's just me. A lot of work seems to have been done on "team" mechanics. I really have no clue what exactly was changed, but teaming is simply very fluid now. It is now easier to understand many features of the game, and it is WAY easier to handle chat system. At first, chat system was pretty freaking terrible, as the matter of fact it was a hassle sometimes. There are better tooltips and restricted UI interfaces that confused you before (like Feats tab don't show anymore until you actually get your first feat point at lvl 10). Quest NPCs are now marked properly on the maps and in the world. Just many many great GUI improvements, which actually add to immersion and lessen the frustration that come from bugs and whatnot. I should also probably mention that it seems like every class now have their own feat window graphics, as in their own feat window background and feat connection graphics. At least two of my classes have two different backgrounds. I know some might not even like this, but I'm happy to see it: new hotbars have been added. What's so special about these hotbars is that you can place them horizontally or vertically, you can also freely move them around the screen AND you can resize them as you see them fit, meaning that a hotbar can have like 5 to 15 slots, depending on what you want it to be. This is the first truly customizable GUI piece in AoC, I hope more is on the way. PVP is pretty hectic and unbalanced, some ganking going on even at this stage, so things don't look too well on this front when game launches and servers are full. As a whole, there need to be A LOT of balancing done, and perhaps pvp system needs to get buffed/nerfed, depending on how you look at it. Right now, PVP fights, 1vs1, are mostly under 30 secs long. One of my cloth classes was actually killed in the matter of few seconds, 5 secs perhaps, it was straight up face to face fight, the other guy got very lucky, but this shit shouldn't happen. I wish PVP fights would be little longer on average (heh having two same speced bear shamans would take a while to complete the battle, but that's not the point). Overall, PVP is fun if you are playing with friends and are not being griefed.....or if you are doing the griefing. I am confident that more balanced PVP combat will be there in the future. However, I am not so confident that griefing will get any better, I hope I'm wrong. Last, but definitely not least, Guild Towns and Crafting is in the game. I joined a guild, just for beta, and this guild has placed the order to get one started. I'm not high enough level to even get to the area safely, so I dunno if there are any other guilds that have started building. The same goes for crafting, it's in but I did not get a chance to try it yet." End quote Last edited by 8ounce : 03-25-2008 at 07:43 AM. |

| Just my oppinion, I think AoC will be better enjoyed on a normal server rather then a pvp server. I've always liked the "Idea" of open world ffa pvp but in practice it always turns into gank squads and constantly being jumped at the worst moments, fair fights are very rare. The normal servers will have lots of pvp but in a more contrlled way. Of course there are many that enjoy the ganking side of pvp and its great for them to have ffa servers, but any carebears should stay clear. |

| Well FFA is a lot fuckin' better than WoW's half vs. half. Sure, you may get ganked every now and then, but it's all worth it for that one time your group mate fucks up the pull for the 4th time and everyone turns on him in an orgy of destruction. |

+21 Internets | I agree FFA isn't for everyone. If you don't have a steady group to roll with your not going to have fun(as often). Half vs Half is indeed lame...at least it has been proven to suck. I am all for race vs race or faction vs faction with more then 3 factions or minimum 3 races. |

| So a buddy of mine got me talked into looking at this game. So far I'm getting excited about the features of the game and hope they're done well. He did mention that all (or most) classes get some sort of stealth, is this true? |
